Bihar’s ‘ Saat Nischay-3 ’ to widen rural roads from 13.5 to 18 feet, easing congestion and boosting village economy. Surveys to finish by June 30.
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s declaration of ‘ Saat Nischay-3 ‘ marks a significant step forward in rural development. Rural Affairs Minister Ashok Choudhary announced that the state’s rural roads will now be six and a half feet wider. Currently, the majority of roads created under the Mukhyamantri Gramin Sadak Yojana are 3.75 meters (approximately 13.5 feet) wide. The new design will enlarge these roadways to 5.5 meters (18 feet). The enlargement of roads will not only improve the appearance of rural communities, but will also speed up economic activity and transportation.
The application will be used for surveys.
Rural Affairs Minister Ashok Choudhary stated that the process of implementing this initiative on the ground has begun, and the process of selecting engineers to undertake surveys via the app will be completed by March 31. The road surveys will be finished by June 30. The survey will determine whether government land is available on both sides of the road.

Preparations for Land Acquisition
In general, there is no provision for land acquisition in the construction of rural roads; however, given the importance of this special scheme, the Rural Affairs Department is considering the land acquisition process so that even where government land is limited, widening work continues.
Why was this choice made?
During the elections, rural residents repeatedly complained about traffic congestion caused by small roads. Furthermore, the expansion of village employment and the establishment of small-scale manufacturers necessitated the construction of broad roadways for heavy vehicle transportation. In light of these issues, this major decision was made under ‘Saat Nischay 3’.
