New Delhi: The Vinesh Phogat Wrestling Comeback has come under the spotlight after Vinesh Phogat alleged that her return to competitive wrestling is being obstructed. The Olympic medallist, who had earlier announced her retirement following disappointment at the Paris Olympics, reversed her decision in December and began preparing for a comeback.

WFI Responds to Allegations
Responding to the claims surrounding the Vinesh Phogat Wrestling Comeback, the Wrestling Federation of India denied any wrongdoing. WFI chief Sanjay Singh said that the federation has not intentionally blocked any athlete from entering competitions.
He noted that similar complaints were received from other wrestlers and were resolved after they contacted the federation staff. He emphasized that the tournament remains open for all eligible participants.
Selection Criteria and What Lies Ahead
Amid the ongoing Vinesh Phogat Wrestling Comeback issue, WFI’s Asian Games selection policy has also come into focus. As per current rules, only medal winners from the 2025 National Championships and the 2026 Federation Cup are directly eligible for senior selection trials.
