Colombo: Rain played spoilsport in the much-anticipated T20 World Cup 2026 Super 8s clash between Pakistan and New Zealand on 21 February 2026 at the R. Premadasa Stadium, with not a single ball bowled. Continuous downpours left the outfield waterlogged, forcing multiple inspections by officials, but conditions failed to improve. Consequently, the match was abandoned without a result, with both sides sharing one point each.

Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha had won the toss and elected to bat, signaling an aggressive intent. However, the weather quickly curtailed any chance of making an early statement in the Super 8 stage.
