New Delhi: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is reportedly preparing to take legal action against Zimbabwe fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani after the pacer withdrew from the Pakistan Super League (PSL) at the last moment to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026.
Muzarabani joins the three-time IPL champions, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), as a replacement for Mustafizur Rahman, who was released from the squad following instructions from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The move marks a significant shift in the bowling lineup for KKR ahead of the new IPL season.
The 27-year-old Zimbabwean, who has represented his country in 89 T20Is, was initially contracted by Islamabad United for 11 million PKR for PSL 11, scheduled from March 26 to May 3, as a replacement for Shamar Joseph. However, the announcement that Muzarabani joins KKR IPL has sparked a strong reaction from the PCB.

PCB Considers Legal Action Against Muzarabani for IPL 2026 Withdrawal from PSL
According to reports, PCB officials are evaluating legal avenues to address Muzarabani’s withdrawal, as it follows a similar incident last year when South African all-rounder Corbin Bosch skipped the PSL to join the Mumbai Indians. Bosch faced a one-season ban for the breach of contract.
Muzarabani joins KKR IPL after an impressive ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 campaign, where he emerged as Zimbabwe’s leading wicket-taker with 13 wickets, ranking fourth overall in the tournament. His match-winning performances against Australia and Sri Lanka during the Sri Lanka leg of the competition highlighted his pace, accuracy, and ability to handle high-pressure situations.
With Muzarabani joining KKR IPL, the franchise strengthens its pace attack and adds depth to the bowling department ahead of the 2026 season. The fast bowler is scheduled to join team preparations from March 17. KKR management expressed confidence that Muzarabani’s international experience and recent form will be crucial in their bid for another IPL title.
As both the PSL and IPL run concurrently, incidents like these have drawn attention to scheduling conflicts and contractual obligations for players. The PCB’s response to the situation is expected in the coming days, while KKR gears up to integrate Muzarabani into their squad seamlessly.
