Industries Minister Col. Rajyavardhan Rathore Leads Investor Roadshow in Singapore, Welcomes Businesses to Rajasthan

Jaipur, October 8, 2024: In the lead-up to the ‘Rising Rajasthan’ Global Investment Summit 2024, Rajasthan’s Industries and Commerce Minister, Col. Rajyavardhan Rathore, led a high-level delegation to Singapore to attract investments in various sectors. The delegation held talks with prominent businesses in Singapore, emphasizing Rajasthan’s readiness to welcome investments in petrochemicals, logistics, urban development, skill development, and the automotive industry.

During the Singapore Investor Meet, Col. Rathore highlighted Rajasthan’s immense potential as a business destination, inviting companies to explore opportunities in the state. He emphasized the government’s commitment to fostering a business-friendly environment under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Bhajan Lal Sharma. “Rajasthan is at the crossroads of major logistical developments with the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor and two major expressways – Delhi-Mumbai and Amritsar-Jamnagar. Land along these routes is available for businesses, and we have a young workforce, supportive bureaucracy, and political will to drive investments rapidly,” said Col. Rathore.

Encouraging Investments in Key Sectors

Col. Rathore stressed that the state’s economic vision is to double its economy through strategic investments in key sectors. He invited Singaporean companies to consider Rajasthan’s logistics sector, particularly its multi-modal transport infrastructure, which is anchored by the dedicated freight corridors passing through the state.

Joining him at the roadshow, Chief Secretary of Rajasthan, Shri Sudhansh Pant, mentioned that numerous investment agreements (MoUs) have already been signed during earlier investor meets, and this trend is set to grow in the coming months. “We are committed to implementing promised policy changes and tracking the economic progress of these initiatives. That’s why the Rising Rajasthan Investment Summit is happening in the first year of this government’s tenure,” Pant explained.

Strengthening Trade Ties with Singapore

Ms. Gayatri Rathore, Principal Secretary (Medical & Health), Government of Rajasthan, presented the state’s trade achievements, highlighting a remarkable 280% increase in exports to Singapore over the past four years. She showcased investment opportunities in multiple sectors, including petrochemicals, urban development, and skill development, encouraging Singaporean businesses to leverage their technological advancements and expertise to collaborate with Rajasthan.

The delegation also explored collaboration opportunities with key Singaporean businesses. They visited the Jurong Island Petrochemical Complex, Singapore’s leading petrochemical hub, and engaged with officials from JTC Corporation, discussing potential partnerships with Rajasthan’s own petrochemical zone in Balotara. This visit was aimed at drawing parallels between Singapore’s thriving petrochemical industry and Rajasthan’s ambitions in the sector.

In discussions with PSA Horizons, a global logistics provider, the delegation explored developing Multimodal Logistics Parks (MMLPs) and Inland Container Depots (ICDs) along Rajasthan’s freight corridors. The state officials invited PSA Horizons to explore industrial regions like Jodhpur Pali Marwar Industrial Area (JPMIA) and Khushkhera Bhiwadi Neemrana Investment Region (KBNIR) for potential collaborations.

Building Partnerships in Urban and Skill Development

The delegation also held discussions with Sembcorp, a major player in urban development and renewable energy, to explore investments in Rajasthan’s urban infrastructure projects. In line with Rajasthan’s focus on skill development, Col. Rathore’s team met with ITE Education Services (ITEES), a Singapore-based organization specializing in technical education. ITEES has previously partnered with Indian states, and Rajasthan hopes to leverage their expertise to advance the state’s education and skill development sectors.

Additionally, the team met representatives of TVS Motors, inviting them to explore business opportunities in Rajasthan’s burgeoning automotive sector.

Engaging the Indian Diaspora and NRR Community

In the evening, Col. Rathore led the delegation in an outreach program with the Indian diaspora and the Non-Resident Rajasthani (NRR) community. He lauded their contributions to both India and Rajasthan, encouraging them to act as bridges between foreign investors and their home state. “We are proud of the achievements of the Indian diaspora and particularly the NRR community, and we look forward to their continued support in strengthening ties between Rajasthan and international investors,” said Col. Rathore.

This investor roadshow is part of Rajasthan’s extensive outreach campaign ahead of the Rising Rajasthan Global Investment Summit 2024, set to take place in Jaipur on December 9-11, 2024. The summit aims to attract global investments across sectors, including agriculture, renewable energy, infrastructure, education, auto, petrochemicals, and tourism.
