The Rajasthan state government signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Housing and Urban Development Corporation Limited (HUDCO) to offer Rs 1 lakh crore in financial assistance.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma remarked that the state government is committed to making Rajasthan a leader in energy and improving the infrastructure for drinking water and irrigation.

The state government will guarantee that the required financial resources are allocated to this resolution.

“ReNew, a major firm in renewable energy production, produced renewable energy from a 400 MW solar power plant in Jaisalmer today, which is an important step toward making the state self-reliant. Production of the remaining 200 MW will begin in October.

This will increase the state’s renewable energy capability. Increasing renewable capacity will cut electricity costs, resulting in lower consumer tariffs and government savings.

“This plant will be able to supply electricity to Rajasthan Discom at very low rates,” CM Sharma stated during the virtual inauguration ceremony of the Jaisalmer Solar Power facility at the Chief Minister’s Office on Wednesday.

The Chief Minister stated that great progress has been made towards ensuring an uninterrupted supply of energy and water.

In addition, MoUs have been inked for a Rs 1 lakh crore investment in 28,500 MW of renewable energy and 3,325 MW of thermal projects in the state.

Furthermore, an expenditure of Rs 10,000 crore has been agreed upon to enhance the transmission infrastructure.

Rajasthan Energy Development Corporation and SJVN have struck a purchase agreement for 600 MW of solar energy.

The CM also indicated that a tariff-based tender procedure has begun for 8,000 MW of solar and 3,200 MW of coal-fired projects. The establishment of these projects will require an investment of Rs 64,000 crore.

Notably, HUDCO inked an MoU worth Rs 1 lakh crore with the state government, under which the state government will receive a loan of Rs 20,000 crore each year for infrastructure projects such as water, irrigation, and electricity for the next five years.

On Wednesday, HUDCO presented a cheque for Rs 1,577 crore to the Rajasthan Water Supply and Sewerage Corporation (RWSSC) for the Jal Jeevan Mission.

Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Diya Kumari stated that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, the state is fast progressing toward the objective of a developed Rajasthan.

“Inspired by the working style of the Chief Minister, we are all working, and new dimensions of development are being established in every field,” she said
