Swift Action to Fill Backlog Posts for Divyang Persons, Assures Dr. Baljit Kaur

Chandigarh, January 9: In a dedicated effort to address the employment backlog for Divyang (disabled) persons, Punjab’s Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister, Dr. Baljit Kaur, held a pivotal meeting with representatives of the Punjab Blind Youth Association. The Minister assured swift action to address legitimate concerns, emphasizing that the government remains committed to the empowerment and inclusion of Divyang individuals in the state workforce.

Dr. Baljit Kaur stated that Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s government is focused on improving accessibility and opportunities for Divyang persons. During the meeting, key discussions took place between Dr. Kaur, Special Chief Secretary of Social Security, Women and Child Development Mrs. Raji P. Srivastava, and Deputy Director Amarjit Singh Bhullar, alongside Divyang representatives who voiced several crucial concerns. Their primary requests included expediting the filling of reserved backlog positions, increasing travel allowances, and ensuring free education and hostel accommodations for college-going girls, particularly in the Jamalpur area.

In response, Dr. Baljit Kaur assured attendees that these legitimate demands would be addressed. She instructed department officials to collaborate with the Department of Employment Generation and Training to expedite job fairs specifically aimed at filling Divyang backlog posts, providing more opportunities to individuals facing employment barriers. The Minister emphasized the importance of not only fulfilling these posts but also establishing support systems, such as arranging writers for students, increasing pensions, enhancing facilities for Divyang sportspersons, and reserving seats for Divyang persons on government buses.

To maintain momentum on these initiatives, Dr. Kaur directed her team to hold regular meetings with various departments, ensuring that progress is monitored and tangible actions are taken. Additionally, the Minister called for ongoing coordination with the Department of Social Security to ensure that job opportunities and benefits for Divyang persons are promptly implemented.

Dr. Kaur’s initiative reflects the government’s commitment to empowering Divyang individuals through targeted employment and social support. She noted that these efforts are a part of a broader push to promote inclusivity and provide Divyang persons with equal opportunities in government services and across Punjab’s workforce.
