Aimed at Empowering Youth and Enhancing Services
The newly appointed employees, including 35 Assistant Engineers who received their appointment letters during the announcement event, will contribute to the state’s power sector’s growth. Of the 35 Assistant Engineers, 22 specialize in Electronics and Communication, while 13 focus on Electrical engineering. This diversity in specialization will ensure that the power sector has a wide range of expertise to address various challenges and improve services.
Minister ETO also highlighted that the recruitment drive was not just about providing jobs but also about enhancing the overall functioning of Punjab’s power sector. With the increasing demand for reliable electricity in the state, these appointments are seen as a step toward meeting those needs by ensuring an adequately staffed and skilled workforce.
Commitment to Employment and Infrastructure Growth
During the ceremony, Harbhajan Singh ETO further stressed the commitment of the Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann-led government to generate more employment opportunities for the youth of Punjab. Since March 2022, the Punjab government has provided over 50,000 job opportunities, demonstrating a strong focus on youth employment.
“This recruitment drive is only a small part of our ongoing efforts to build a robust and reliable power sector. We are not only focusing on providing jobs but also improving the overall infrastructure and services that benefit every resident of Punjab,” said ETO.
The government’s commitment to strengthening the power sector through recruitment and upskilling is evident in their plans for the next few years. The recruitment of 4,864 more individuals in PSPCL for 2025–26 indicates a sustained focus on bolstering the sector’s workforce.
A Glimpse Into the Future of Punjab’s Power Sector
By increasing the number of qualified personnel within PSPCL and PSTCL, the government aims to provide a steady and uninterrupted power supply to meet the growing demands of both urban and rural areas in Punjab. These efforts are part of a broader strategy to improve the efficiency and reliability of the power distribution and transmission systems.
Furthermore, the recruitment of young engineers and technical staff will help in modernizing the existing power infrastructure, incorporating new technologies, and enhancing the overall customer service experience. As new talent enters the workforce, the state is also hoping to drive innovation and better utilization of resources within the power sector.
Harbhajan Singh ETO’s Call to Newly Recruited Engineers
While handing over appointment letters to the 35 Assistant Engineers, Minister ETO took the opportunity to interact with the candidates, asking about their educational qualifications and their preferences within the department. He congratulated the newly recruited engineers and encouraged them to approach their work with dedication, as they would play a crucial role in shaping the future of Punjab’s power infrastructure.
Minister ETO expressed his confidence in the abilities of the young recruits, highlighting that their contributions would directly impact the quality of power services provided to Punjab’s citizens.
