Punjab Police Takes Action Against Drug Traffickers by Demolishing Illegal Properties in Fazilka and SAS Nagar

Chandigarh/Fazilka/SAS Nagar, March 8 – In its ongoing battle against drug trafficking, the Punjab Police, under the direction of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, has intensified its efforts by demolishing properties linked to drug smugglers. As part of the ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’ anti-drugs campaign, the authorities have razed the houses of two notorious drug traffickers in Fazilka and SAS Nagar districts.

This move is part of a broader, systemic effort by the Punjab government to eradicate the drug trade and ensure a drug-free state. The demolitions serve as a warning to those involved in drug trafficking that illegal wealth obtained through criminal activities will not be tolerated.

Bulldozer Action in Fazilka: House of Drug Smuggler Razed

The first demolition took place in Fazilka, where a bulldozer was used to raze the house of Bohar Singh, a notorious drug smuggler, in Seed Farm village. SSP Varinder Singh Brar, during the operation, revealed that Bohar Singh was facing 21 criminal cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

In his address, SSP Brar warned drug traffickers that anyone found accumulating illegal wealth through the drug trade will face severe consequences, including the seizure and demolition of their assets. This action is a clear message from the Punjab Police that the state government is committed to making Punjab a drug-free state. The drive against the drug mafia has gained momentum with the unyielding support of the local administration and law enforcement agencies.

SSP Brar added, “We will not spare anyone involved in drug trafficking. If they acquire property illegally, it will be demolished, no matter how powerful they are.”

SAS Nagar Demolitions: Illegal Structures of Drug Traffickers Removed

Similarly, the SAS Nagar district saw a major crackdown on illegal properties tied to drug traffickers. The District Police, in collaboration with the Municipal Council (MC) Kharar, demolished unauthorized structures built on encroached Panchayat land in Jandpur village. These buildings were linked to a drug trafficking family with multiple criminal charges.

SSP Deepak Pareek confirmed that the family of the drug trafficker had seven FIRs, including three under the NDPS Act, dating back from 1999 to 2014. On the request of MC Kharar, the police provided assistance to remove the illegal encroachments, which were predominantly occupied by the accused and their family members.

The demolition was conducted smoothly, with sufficient personnel deployed to ensure the operation was free from disturbances. SSP Pareek emphasized that the demolition drive was executed following official records and a thorough review of the illegal properties associated with the drug traffickers.

A Pivotal Moment in the ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’ Campaign

The demolition of these properties represents a key moment in the ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’ (War Against Drugs) campaign, launched by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann. This initiative aims to eradicate the drug menace in Punjab, focusing on dismantling the drug mafia’s stronghold by targeting their illegal assets.

The ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’ campaign, which has been ongoing for several months, seeks to curb drug trafficking through aggressive policing, property seizures, and demolitions. The Punjab Police have made it clear that they will not stop until drug traffickers are held accountable for their actions, and all illegal gains from the drug trade are eliminated.

Ongoing Efforts to Make Punjab Drug-Free

Punjab’s fight against drugs has been a long-standing challenge, but with Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann at the helm, the state has pledged to take decisive action against the drug mafia. The demolition of illegal properties is just one of the many steps being taken to cleanse the state of this growing menace.

In addition to property demolitions, the Punjab Police has been conducting raids, arresting drug peddlers, and seizing narcotics as part of their broader strategy to disrupt the operations of the drug mafia. The government has also been working closely with local communities to raise awareness about the dangers of drug addiction and promote rehabilitation programs for those affected by drugs.

Conclusion: A Strong Message to Drug Traffickers

The demolition operations in Fazilka and SAS Nagar send a strong message to the drug mafia that the Punjab Police, under the guidance of CM Bhagwant Singh Mann, is committed to eradicating drugs from the state. These actions are part of a larger effort to ensure public safety and secure the future of Punjab’s youth by eliminating the widespread problem of drug addiction.

The ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’ campaign is gaining momentum, and with continued collaboration between law enforcement, local administrations, and the community, Punjab is moving closer to becoming a drug-free state.
