Punjab Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak Allocates Rs. 2.5 Crore for Development of 48 New Panchayats

Chandigarh/Pathankot, February 15, 2025Punjab Cabinet Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak has announced the disbursement of Rs. 2.5 crore in grants to 48 newly formed Panchayats in the Bhoa Assembly constituency. The funds will be used for a range of development works and improvements to basic infrastructure in these villages. Minister Kataruchak highlighted the Punjab government’s commitment to village development under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann.

Addressing a gathering of Sarpanches and Panches during a function held at village Kataruchak, Kataruchak expressed that the Mann government is working tirelessly to foster inclusive growth across the state, particularly in rural areas. He noted that these grants would contribute significantly to improving essential services and infrastructure within the affected villages.

Focus on Development and Basic Amenities

Minister Kataruchak outlined that the allocated funds—Rs. 2.47 crore—will be utilized for several key development projects aimed at improving village amenities and services. These include:

  • Construction of community halls for social gatherings and events.
  • Drainage systems and sewerage projects to improve sanitation.
  • Installation of solar lights to ensure better lighting in rural areas.
  • Development of deep bore wells for improving water supply.
  • Initiatives for solid and liquid waste management to promote cleaner environments.
  • Smart village initiatives and the development of playgrounds for the community’s recreational needs.
  • Development of ponds and water bodies to improve water storage and rural resilience.

Minister Kataruchak also emphasized that the funds were allocated based on the demands of the Panchayats, with the assurance that there was no discrimination in the distribution process. This reflects the Mann government’s commitment to rural equity and inclusive development for all communities, regardless of political affiliations.

Ensuring Proper Utilization of Funds

The Cabinet Minister urged the Panchayat members to ensure that the allocated funds are used properly and with accountability. He called on the panchayats to prioritize the needs of their communities, ensuring that each project contributes to the overall development of the villages. The state government has made it clear that there will be no shortage of funds for village development, and the focus will remain on transforming rural Punjab with sustainable and long-term solutions.

In his address, Minister Kataruchak assured that additional grants would be made available whenever necessary to continue the state’s commitment to rural infrastructure and community development.

A Government Committed to Village Welfare

Kataruchak reflected on the government’s efforts since taking power in 2022, emphasizing that the Mann government has placed a strong focus on village development. Since its formation, the government has continuously worked to provide financial assistance to Panchayats, ensuring that the rural population has access to the same level of development as urban areas.

The Minister also reiterated the Punjab government’s efforts to eradicate illegal travel agents who deceive individuals into migrating abroad illegally, causing problems for both the migrants and their families. These actions, Kataruchak noted, are part of the government’s broader strategy to promote sustainable development and prevent the exploitation of Punjab’s residents.

Key Attendees at the Event

The event also saw the presence of prominent local leaders and officials, including:

  • Naresh Saini, District President of the BC Wing.
  • Pawan Kumar Fauji, Block President.
  • Subedar Kulwant Singh, Block President.
  • Khushbir Katal.
  • Raja Baknaur, Sarpanch of Village Kataruchak, Urmila Devi.
  • Saurabh Bahl and Bhupinder Singh Thakur, along with other party workers.

These leaders, alongside the Sarpanches and Panches, will work to implement the development projects in their respective villages and ensure the efficient use of the funds allocated for community growth.

A Strong Vision for Rural Transformation

This significant move is part of a broader initiative to modernize Punjab’s rural areas. By improving basic infrastructure and facilities, the government aims to elevate the standard of living for rural residents. The focus on creating smart villages, along with other sustainability projects like waste management and solar power installation, marks a forward-thinking approach to green and resilient rural development.

Kataruchak’s efforts are also aligned with the Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s broader agenda of inclusive governance, ensuring that every village benefits from government schemes without political bias. The allocation of such substantial grants signals the government’s commitment to strengthening rural Punjab, enhancing the well-being of its residents, and laying the groundwork for long-term sustainable development.

Conclusion: A Step Toward Inclusive Growth

The Rs. 2.5 crore grant distribution by Lal Chand Kataruchak is a testament to the Punjab government’s dedication to transforming its villages. With inclusive development at the forefront of its agenda, the Mann government is working to ensure that no village is left behind in the state’s march toward progress and prosperity. This initiative is expected to lead to significant improvements in village infrastructure, create a cleaner and greener environment, and provide rural residents with much-needed amenities to improve their quality of life.
