Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann Criticizes BJP’s Delimitation Process and Discusses Amritsar Incident

Punjab CM Bhagwant Singh Mann Accuses BJP of Using Delimitation to Target Political Opponents

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has raised serious concerns over the ongoing delimitation process in the country, claiming that the Union government, led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), is misusing it to eliminate its political opponents. Speaking on the sidelines of an event where he flagged off a batch of 72 teachers to Finland, Mann slammed the BJP for adopting what he called an “undemocratic” approach, suggesting that the process is aimed at weakening states where the party has limited influence while strengthening its position in other regions.

The Punjab CM’s statements reflect the mounting political tension around the delimitation exercise, which is seen by many as a tactical move by the BJP to reshape electoral constituencies in its favor. Mann’s criticism aligns with concerns raised by various political parties, particularly in states where the BJP’s presence is comparatively weaker.

Undemocratic Methodology of Delimitation

Mann made it clear that the current delimitation process, which adjusts electoral boundaries based on population shifts and other factors, is being used by the BJP to target states that have historically opposed the party’s policies. He argued that in states where the BJP and its allies have limited support, the number of seats is being reduced, while in states where the party has gained influence, the number of seats is being increased.

“This faulty implementation of delimitation raises questions about the BJP’s intent,” Mann said. “Tactically, the seats of states where the BJP is weak are being reduced, while in states where its divisive agenda is gaining ground, seats are being enhanced. This is nothing but a politically motivated strategy to eliminate opposition voices.”

Mann also pointed out that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), along with other like-minded political entities, will join forces to challenge this undemocratic practice. He expressed confidence that together, they would expose the alleged motives behind this exercise, which he believes is designed to suppress democracy in India.

Amritsar Incident: A Conspiracy to Destabilize Punjab

Responding to a question about the recent incident in Amritsar, Mann stated that the disturbances were the result of external forces that aim to destabilize the state. He accused “fissiparous forces”—groups with divisive agendas—of trying to disturb the hard-earned peace of Punjab. The Chief Minister condemned the incident, saying it was part of a larger conspiracy to disrupt Punjab’s progress and harmony.

“Such incidents are the handiwork of those who wish to destabilize Punjab. But let me assure the people of Punjab that the state government will never allow these forces to succeed,” Mann said. “The Punjab Police is vigilant, and we are committed to ensuring that peace and stability are maintained in the state.”

Mann’s comments were aimed at reassuring the public that the government remains proactive in handling any threat to the state’s security and unity. He further highlighted that the law and order situation in Punjab is much better than many other states, thanks to the effective monitoring and intervention by the Punjab Police.

Strengthening Punjab’s Security: A Win Against Drone Smuggling

One of the significant challenges Punjab has faced in recent years is cross-border terrorism and the smuggling of drugs, weapons, and other illicit materials, primarily through drones. However, Mann expressed satisfaction that the state has made substantial progress in curbing smuggling activities, particularly through drone technology.

“Smuggling through drones has reduced significantly ever since we launched our mass movement against drugs, Yudh Nasheyan Virudh,” Mann proudly stated. “It’s a matter of immense pride that our Punjab Police, equipped with advanced technology and modern investigative tools, has successfully checked this menace.”

The Yudh Nasheyan Virudh (War Against Drugs) initiative, launched by the state government, has played a pivotal role in combating the rampant drug smuggling through drones. This initiative, coupled with the Punjab Police’s efforts to modernize and increase its surveillance capabilities, has led to a marked reduction in illegal activities along the border.

Looking Ahead: Strengthening Punjab’s Democracy and Security

As the Punjab government continues to tackle various challenges, from the political ramifications of delimitation to securing the state from external threats, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann remains adamant about his commitment to upholding the values of democracy, peace, and prosperity in the state.

He has vowed to continue working toward safeguarding Punjab’s hard-earned peace and prosperity, ensuring that any attempts to disrupt this will be thwarted. “We will not allow any forces—be it political or external—to destabilize our state,” Mann concluded.

This statement is a clear message to both the people of Punjab and the Union government that the AAP-led state government will not back down in the face of any threats, whether political or security-related. As Punjab prepares for future challenges, the government is determined to protect the state’s sovereignty and democratic values at all costs.
