On Friday, the Parliament offered heartfelt honors to members of the armed services who gave their lives during the Kargil conflict.

In observance of the warriors who lost their lives in the war, members of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha stood silently for a short while.

Speaker Om Birla praised the troops’ efforts to maintain national unity in the Lok Sabha and recalled their fortitude in the face of difficult circumstances during the conflict.

Birla also sent sympathy to the families of the military men and women who died in the conflict.

A thankful nation is commemorating the 25th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas, Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar of the Upper House said, cherishing the unwavering fortitude and valour showed by the Indian armed services during the Kargil war.

The Rajya Sabha Chairman praised the military services’ unwavering resolve and devotion on this occasion, saying, “This House salutes their extraordinary bravery leading to the resounding victory over the enemy, despite the adverse weather conditions and difficult terrain of Kargil.”

During the battle, more than five hundred men gave their lives.

For a short while, the House was silent in observance of the deceased souls.

Following a nearly three-month-long fight in Kargil, Ladakh, the Indian Army declared victory on July 26, 1999, marking the effective conclusion of “Operation Vijay.” Kargil Vijay Diwas is observed on this day.
