Nitish Kumar Launches 139 New Police Infrastructure Projects in Bihar, Boosts Road Safety with Smart Mobile Technology

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar unveiled a series of major initiatives aimed at transforming the state’s police infrastructure and boosting road safety during a key event. At the event held at ‘Sankalp’ located at 1, Anne Marg, the CM inaugurated 139 newly constructed buildings, part of a broader effort to enhance the police and prison system in the state. The total cost of these projects amounts to Rs 459.52 crore. In addition, he laid the foundation stone for the construction of 192 new police and prison buildings, set to be built at a cost of Rs 996.53 crore.

The program also witnessed the distribution of 1,220 smart mobile phones equipped with eDAR (Electronic Detailed Accident Report) software to police officers across Bihar. This move aims to modernize road accident investigations and streamline the process for compensation claims. The CM’s announcement reflects his government’s ongoing commitment to strengthening law enforcement, improving public safety, and embracing technological advancements in policing.

139 New Police Infrastructure Projects to Strengthen Bihar’s Law Enforcement System

The launch of 139 newly constructed police buildings marks a significant step in improving Bihar’s law enforcement infrastructure. With a total investment of Rs 459.52 crore, these buildings are designed to provide better working conditions for officers and enhance the capacity of the state’s police force. The new structures will accommodate various police departments, including local police stations, prison facilities, and administrative offices, all of which play a critical role in maintaining law and order across the state.

This infrastructure upgrade is part of CM Nitish Kumar’s long-term vision to modernize the Bihar police force. The initiative will improve the efficiency of police operations, allowing for quicker response times, better coordination, and a stronger presence in rural and urban areas alike. The new facilities will also contribute to more secure environments for both police personnel and the public.

192 More Police Buildings to Be Constructed with Rs 996.53 Crore Investment

Further expanding the state’s police infrastructure, the CM also laid the foundation stone for the construction of 192 new buildings, which are expected to cost Rs 996.53 crore. These projects include additional police stations, security posts, and facilities for prison administration. The new buildings will help address the growing needs of Bihar’s police force, which has been under pressure to manage increasing crime rates and improve public safety.

The construction of these 192 buildings is a vital component of the Bihar government’s broader strategy to enhance police visibility and accessibility. By decentralizing police operations and building more facilities in strategic locations, Bihar aims to ensure faster and more effective responses to crime and emergencies.

Smart Mobile Phones with eDAR Technology for Improved Road Accident Investigations

As part of his commitment to integrating modern technology into policing, CM Nitish Kumar also distributed 1,220 smart mobile phones equipped with eDAR (Electronic Detailed Accident Report) software. These devices will significantly improve the efficiency of road accident investigations by enabling officers to electronically document and report accident details in real-time.

The introduction of eDAR technology is expected to streamline the investigation process, reduce paperwork, and expedite the issuance of compensation for accident victims. This initiative is particularly crucial in Bihar, where road accidents have been a persistent concern. By equipping police officers with advanced technology, the state is working to ensure better road safety and a more efficient claims process for those affected by accidents.

Solar Energy Integration for Police Stations and Buildings

In a bid to make the state’s police infrastructure more sustainable, CM Nitish Kumar also directed that solar energy panels be installed on all police stations and buildings. The move is part of Bihar’s broader commitment to reducing its carbon footprint and promoting renewable energy sources. By utilizing solar power, the state aims to decrease electricity costs, reduce dependency on traditional energy sources, and contribute to environmental conservation.

The installation of solar panels at police stations will not only help in cutting operational costs but also ensure that police facilities remain operational during power outages or disruptions. This is especially important in remote areas, where reliable access to electricity can be a challenge.

Maintenance of Police Buildings and Stations

CM Nitish Kumar also emphasized the importance of regular maintenance of all police buildings and stations. Ensuring the proper upkeep of police infrastructure is critical for maintaining a functional and safe working environment for officers. The CM instructed authorities to prioritize the timely repair and maintenance of existing buildings, ensuring that the state’s police force has access to modern, well-maintained facilities.

Proper maintenance will also help in extending the lifespan of the newly constructed buildings, safeguarding the public’s investment in law enforcement infrastructure.

Looking Ahead: A Stronger, More Modern Police Force for Bihar

The latest developments in Bihar’s police infrastructure and technology reflect the state government’s dedication to modernizing its law enforcement system. With investments in both physical infrastructure and technological upgrades, CM Nitish Kumar is laying the groundwork for a more effective, responsive, and sustainable police force.

These initiatives will not only improve the working conditions for police officers but also enhance the quality of service provided to the people of Bihar. As the state continues to invest in public safety and infrastructure, the goal is to create a safer, more secure environment for both citizens and law enforcement personnel alike.

With these transformative changes, Bihar is poised to set new standards in police modernization, serving as a model for other states in India.
