Nayab Saini Sworn in as Haryana Chief Minister for a Second Term, PM Modi and BJP Leaders Attend Ceremony
Nayab Singh Saini, the prominent Dalit leader and MLA from Ladwa in Kurukshetra, took the oath as the Chief Minister of Haryana for the second time today, October 17, in a grand ceremony held in Panchkula. The event witnessed the presence of top national leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and several other senior BJP figures. This historic moment marks a new chapter for Haryana as Saini returns to power following his party’s success in the recent state elections.
The swearing-in ceremony, which attracted a crowd of around 50,000 attendees, was conducted amidst tight security arrangements. Several prominent figures from BJP-ruled states, including Union Ministers Rajnath Singh, Nitin Gadkari, and former Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, were also in attendance. Chief ministers and their deputies from BJP-ruled states joined the celebrations, showcasing strong party unity.
Saini emerged as the unanimous leader of the BJP’s legislative party in Haryana after leading the party to victory in the October 5 assembly elections. The BJP secured 48 seats in the 90-member house, ensuring a third consecutive term for the party. His return to the Chief Minister’s office follows months of political strategy, having replaced his mentor Khattar earlier this year. The political shift proved successful as the BJP cemented its leadership in Haryana.
Beyond BJP leaders, opposition figures, social organizations, and progressive farmers were invited to the ceremony, highlighting Saini’s commitment to inclusive governance. The 54-year-old leader’s swearing-in cements his status as a key figure within the party, with his elevation representing a significant moment for Haryana’s Dalit community.
To accommodate the large number of spectators, 14 massive LED screens were installed at the venue, allowing people to witness the proceedings. In addition, traffic advisories were issued to manage the movement of the thousands of attendees, ensuring a smooth flow of events.
Later in the day, Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to chair a crucial meeting of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) leaders at Hotel Lalit in Panchkula. The discussions are expected to focus on key national and regional issues, with representatives from various states in attendance. This meeting will likely chart the future course of the NDA as it continues to strategize ahead of key elections across the country.
Nayab Singh Saini’s leadership comes at a critical time for the BJP, with Haryana playing an increasingly pivotal role in the party’s national agenda. His ability to unite different factions and lead his party to electoral success positions him as a significant player on the national stage. His second term as Chief Minister is set to bring new opportunities for the state, especially in terms of agricultural reforms, infrastructure development, and economic growth.
