The Darbhanga Police said Jitan Sahni who is Mukesh Sahani’s Father was attacked with a sharp weapon by intruders who allegedly broke in with the intention of burglary. The incident occurred while Mukesh Sahni’s father was alone at home, they added.

The Mallah community member Mukesh Sahni refers to himself as the “Son of Mallah.” In the Bihar administration, he has also held the position of Minister of Fisheries and Animal Husbandry. The Mallah community, which makes up about 6% of the state’s population, has considerable political sway in Bihar. In Bihar politics, their backing is essential, and Sahni has established himself as a leader who stands up for their rights. Hours after the gruesome murder of Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) chief Mukesh Sahani’s father on Monday night, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been constituted by Bihar’s Darbhanga Police to ensure a thorough and swift investigation into the matter. According to police, senior officials are currently camping at the scene to oversee the investigation process. Additionally, a team from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) has been summoned to the location to collect critical evidence. Meanwhile, the Bihar Police have assured that every necessary step is being taken to solve the case and bring the perpetrators to justice.

How did the Darbhanga Police respond?
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Darbhanga Jagunath Reddy said that a group of officers has arrived at the scene and is looking into the situation. “This morning, the police learned about the murder of Mukesh Sahani’s father, Jitan Sahani, in his Supaul Bazaar residence.
The SHO and other officers from the Birol Police Station hurried over to the scene. An investigative team headed by the SP of Darbhanga Rural Police has been established by the police. In order to facilitate a prompt inquiry, the team also includes the SHO of the Birol police station,” a Darbhanga Police statement read.
“SIT has been formed for quick investigation in the murder case under Ghanshyampur police station of Darbhanga district. Senior officials are camping at the incident site. The FSL team has been called to the spot to collect scientific evidence. Law and order are normal, ” said the Bihar Police in a post on X.
Jitan Sahani’s mutilated body found
It should be noted here that Jitan Sahani was allegedly found murdered at his ancestral home in Bihar’s Darbhanga district. His body with several stab injuries and cut marks on his chest and stomach, was found inside his room at his house in the Biraul area on Tuesday morning.
