Mann Government fully committed to welfare of elderly people: Cabinet Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur

Sangrur/Chandigarh, October 23: Punjab Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur said that the state government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is fully committed to the welfare of the elderly people. The minister said that under this commitment, for the first time under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the government has organised special camps for health check-up, pension registration and other facilities at the doorsteps of elderly people. Cabinet Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur was here today to preside over the district level ‘Senior Citizen Day’ celebrated under the campaign ‘Saade Bazurg, saada mann’ at village Satauj.

On this occasion, Cabinet Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur said that the elderly people were the most valuable asset of the families and society and only due to their upbringing, the children were able to excel in every field. She said that the young generation should stay away from mobile and internet for some time and spend quality time talking with their elders. She added that the elderly people seek some time nothing else.
The cabinet minister said that meaningful efforts were being made by their government to provide basic facilities to every resident of the state who has crossed the age of 60 years.

Under this campaign of the Punjab government, today free health check-up of age-related diseases and free eyesight glasses were also provided free to the needy. During this camp, medicines were also provided free of cost to the patients who came from far and near. On this occasion, eminent personalities above 60 years of age as well as those who took efforts for the welfare of the elderly were also honored.

On this occasion, among others, mother of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann Harpal Kaur, MLA Lehra Barinder Goyal, MLA Sangrur Narinder Kaur Bharaj, Director Social Security, Women and Child Development Department Shena Agarwal, Chairman Mahinder Singh Sidhu, Chairman Gurmail Singh Gharachon, Chairman Dalveer Singh Dhillon, Chairman Jasveer Singh Kudni, Chairman Pritam Singh Peetu, SDM Sunam Rajesh Sharma, Assistant Commissioner Devdarshdeep Singh, Additional Director Charanjit Singh Mann, District Program Officer Pardeep Singh Gill, District Social Security Officer Loveleen Baring, DSP Prithvi Singh Chahal, Chairman Sheeshpal Anand and Chairman Darshan Singh Geeti Mann were also present.
