Vijay Dutt Highlights Transparency, Quality in Punjab’s ‘Meri Rasoi’ Scheme

Vijay Dutt of Punjab State Food Commission hails initiative to strengthen food and nutrition security under NFSA

The Punjab Government’s recently announced ‘Meri Rasoi’ scheme, which aims to provide free ration kits to 40 lakh families, has been welcomed as a major step towards enhancing food and nutrition security in the state. Speaking on the initiative, Vijay Dutt, member of the Punjab State Food Commission, said the move aligns with the objectives of the National Food Security Act and will provide much-needed nutritional support to families across Punjab.

Vijay Dutt Details Contents of Quarterly Ration Kits Under ‘Meri Rasoi’

Vijay Dutt explained that the primary responsibility of the Commission is to ensure eligible beneficiaries receive their entitled food grains and essential commodities on time and of assured quality. Under the ‘Meri Rasoi’ scheme, each eligible family will receive a quarterly ration kit containing two kilograms of pulses, two kilograms of sugar, one kilogram of salt, 200 grams of turmeric powder, and one litre of mustard oil, in addition to the wheat provided under the NFSA.

Vijay Dutt emphasised that the Commission will closely monitor the scheme’s implementation to ensure transparency, efficiency, and accountability throughout the distribution process. He added that strict quality standards in procurement, storage, and supply of food items will be maintained in coordination with the relevant departments.

Vijay Dutt further noted that such initiatives will strengthen Punjab’s food security framework, ensuring that eligible families have access to adequate and nutritious food. The Punjab State Food Commission remains committed to safeguarding the food rights of all citizens in the state.
