Bilaspur, Chattisghar : A plantation programme was organised on the occasion of the Tree Plantation Festival at 10:00 a.m. on August 19, 2026, in the residential campus of Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya (A Central University), an A++ grade university accredited by NAAC. Prof. Neelambari Dave, former Vice-Chancellor, Saurashtra University, Rajkot, Gujarat, and Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya, Prof. Alok Kumar Chakrawal, were the chief guests of the plantation programme. On the occasion, they emphasized environmental conservation on the university campus and the need to create awareness among every individual about tree plantation. They also called for planting as many trees as possible and ensuring their regular care.
TREE PLANTATION FESTIVAL ORGANISED IN CU RESIDENTIAL CAMPUS
The Registrar of the University, Prof. Ashwini Kumar Dixit, was present as the distinguished guest. Prof. Pratibha J. Mishra, Senior Prof. V. S. Rathore and the members of the Nursery and Horticulture Cell extended special cooperation in the programme.
During the programme, the guests planted saplings of various species, including mango, jamun and guava, in the residential colony premises. Special emphasis was laid on environmental conservation, the development of a green campus, and the importance of protecting and nurturing plants. Those present expressed their commitment to the regular care and protection of the saplings planted.
All the residents of the residential colony attended the programme and enthusiastically participated in the plantation activity. Organised with collective participation, the programme aimed not only to increase greenery on the university campus but also to promote environmental awareness and a sense of community responsibility.
