With counting still underway, Sunetra Pawar is leading by over 1.32 lakh votes after 15 of the 24 rounds, putting her on course for a record-breaking mandate that could surpass electoral benchmarks previously set by her late husband Ajit Pawar and NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar.

Sunetra Pawar Baramati Bypoll Win : Emotional dedication after strong lead

Speaking after early results showed a decisive lead, Sunetra Pawar dedicated the Sunetra Pawar Baramati bypoll win to the trust and affection of voters, calling it a tribute to her late husband.

“This is the first election after Ajit Pawar. Never had I thought that I would have to contest this election. The votes from the people of Baramati are the real tribute to Ajit Dada. I thank everyone from the bottom of my heart,” she said.

She further added that she would continue his developmental vision, stating, “I will continue to serve my people and bring the dreams of Ajit Pawar into reality through developmental work.”

Strong family backing and political support

Highlighting the support from the powerful Pawar family, Sunetra Pawar acknowledged both Sharad Pawar and Supriya Sule for standing by her during the bypoll campaign.

“Baramati is my family. Sharad Pawar had declared that they would not contest any candidate. This is the support I’ve got from my family,” she said, reinforcing the emotional undertone behind the Sunetra Pawar Baramati bypoll win.

She also extended congratulations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP for their electoral performance in other states, calling it a reflection of public trust in leadership.

Record-breaking margin on the horizon

The Sunetra Pawar Baramati bypoll win is also shaping up to be historic in terms of margin and vote share. Early trends suggest she may challenge long-standing records within the constituency.

Ajit Pawar had previously set a record in 2019 with a victory margin of 1.65 lakh votes from Baramati. Meanwhile, Sharad Pawar holds the record for the highest vote percentage in the constituency, having secured a 75% vote share in 1990.

If current trends continue, the Sunetra Pawar Baramati bypoll win could redefine political benchmarks in the Pawar family stronghold.

A seat deeply tied to the Pawar legacy

The by-election was held after the death of former Maharashtra Deputy CM and NCP chief Ajit Pawar in an airplane crash near Baramati on January 28. The NCP fielded his wife Sunetra Pawar from the constituency considered the heart of the Pawar family’s political influence.

Notably, several major parties, including Congress, chose not to field candidates, adding to the symbolic nature of the contest.

As counting progresses, the Sunetra Pawar Baramati bypoll win is being viewed not just as an electoral victory but as a continuation of a powerful political legacy in Maharashtra. With strong voter support and emotional resonance, Sunetra Pawar appears set to carve out her own place in the state’s political history.
