The Sopore Student Protest began as a peaceful demonstration but escalated as tensions rose over serious allegations against a school faculty member.

What started on April 13 as a peaceful protest soon intensified, with more students joining the movement. The growing anger among students led to a larger and more aggressive Sopore Student Protest, demanding strict action against the accused.

Protest Turns Violent

As the Sopore Student Protest escalated, reports of vandalism and road blockades surfaced. Protesters allegedly damaged public property and blocked key roads, disrupting normal life in the area. The situation forced police and administration officials to intervene to restore order.

Authorities acted quickly to control the unrest and prevent further escalation.

Police Action and Investigation

Following the violence during the Sopore Student Protest, police confirmed that at least eight individuals have been detained for their alleged involvement in vandalism. Additionally, around 25 more people have been identified, and their roles are under investigation.

Senior Superintendent of Police Iftikhar Talib stated that strict legal action will be taken against those responsible for disturbing public peace. He also confirmed that a formal case has been registered against the accused lecturer based on complaints filed by students.

Lecturer Transferred Amid Probe

In response to the Sopore Student Protest, the Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) has taken immediate action. The accused lecturer has been removed from GHSS Sopore and transferred to Boys Higher Secondary School Bandipora pending the outcome of the investigation.

Officials have directed the investigating officer to submit a detailed report within 15 days.

Situation Under Control

The Sopore Student Protest has raised serious concerns about student safety and institutional accountability. While the situation is now under control, authorities continue to monitor developments closely.

With investigations underway and administrative action initiated, the focus remains on ensuring justice and preventing further unrest in the region.
