New Delhi: President of India Droupadi Murmu on Tuesday inaugurated the National Conclave on Tribal Development, aimed at strengthening Integrated Tribal Development Agencies (ITDAs) and Integrated Tribal Development Projects (ITDPs) across the country. The event was held in New Delhi and brought together officials, administrators, and stakeholders working for the welfare of tribal communities.
On the occasion, the President also virtually inaugurated a Training Fab at the Centre for Nano Science and Engineering at Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, along with 75 Space Labs established in Eklavya Model Residential Schools.
President Calls Participants ‘Agents of Change’
Addressing the gathering, President Murmu described the National Conclave on Tribal Development as a meeting of “tribal change agents” and urged participants to ensure that welfare and development schemes reach tribal communities at the grassroots level.
She emphasized that the responsibility of officials and agencies goes beyond administrative work and involves bringing meaningful change to the lives of tribal families. According to the President, discussions held during the conclave are expected to generate practical solutions that can improve the implementation of tribal welfare programs across states.
Focus on Education, Nutrition and Employment
During her address, the President stressed that every project and policy should ultimately serve people. She urged stakeholders involved in the National Conclave on Tribal Development to focus on key issues such as maternal nutrition, quality education, employment opportunities, and access to government welfare schemes.
Murmu highlighted the need to ensure that every tribal child receives education in a good school, every pregnant mother gets adequate nutrition, and every tribal youth has access to dignified livelihood opportunities.

Eklavya Schools and Skill Development Highlighted
The President underlined the critical role of education in social progress and called for greater efforts in the education and skill development of tribal children and youth. She noted that nearly 500 Eklavya Model Residential Schools have already been established across India, helping expand educational opportunities in tribal regions.
The National Conclave on Tribal Development also highlighted the importance of integrating modern technology with education. The inauguration of 75 Space Labs in Eklavya schools is expected to provide students with exposure to science, innovation, and emerging technologies.

Preserving Tribal Culture Alongside Development
President Murmu expressed satisfaction that development initiatives are being implemented while preserving the rich cultural heritage and traditional knowledge systems of tribal communities. She said sustainable development should respect and promote tribal identity alongside economic and social progress.
The National Conclave on Tribal Development featured discussions on various aspects of tribal welfare, governance, education, health, and livelihood generation, with the goal of improving outcomes for tribal populations across the country.
Contribution to Viksit Bharat 2047
The President stated that the holistic development of tribal communities is essential to achieving the vision of a developed India by 2047. She said inclusive growth can only be realized when tribal populations receive equal opportunities and benefits from development programs.
Concluding her address, Murmu expressed hope that the recommendations and roadmap emerging from the National Conclave on Tribal Development would translate into concrete action at the grassroots level, ensuring that welfare initiatives effectively reach every tribal family and contribute to the nation’s broader development goals.
