Gursharan Singh Chhina on Tuesday formally took charge as Chairman of the Punjab Health Systems Corporation (PHSC) in the presence of Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Balbir Singh.

Congratulating Gursharan Singh Chhina on his new appointment, Dr. Balbir Singh expressed confidence that he would work tirelessly to reinforce the state’s health institutions. The Minister encouraged him to channel the same commitment and enthusiasm shown during the anti-drug drive into his administrative role, ensuring effective implementation of public health schemes at the grassroots level.

Dr. Balbir Singh reiterated that the state’s anti-drug campaign, “Yudh Nashian Virudh,” is a sustained mission aimed at safeguarding the future of Punjab’s youth. He added that while the government remains focused on eradicating the drug menace, opposition parties are engaged in political maneuvering.

Providing updates on the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana, the Health Minister stated that beneficiaries are entitled to cashless treatment—from admission to discharge—at all government hospitals and empanelled private healthcare facilities under the scheme. To further strengthen emergency and critical healthcare services, the state has set up Critical Care Units in 23 hospitals, significantly improving access to advanced medical treatment across Punjab.
