Bangladesh urges India to improve security for its missions after summoning envoy Pranay Verma for the second time in 10 days.
Dhaka: Amid worries over the safety of Bangladeshi missions in India, Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pranay Verma was called to Bangladesh’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday.
The Indian High Commissioner was called by Bangladesh’s Foreign Secretary Asad Alam Siam, according to sources.
The information was verified by diplomatic sources. The article further stated that Verma was called in because of the growing security threat to Bangladeshi missions in New Delhi and Kolkata, among other locations in India.
According to diplomatic sources, Verma has been asked to guarantee improved protection for Bangladeshi embassies spread across India.

This is the second time Verma has been called to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the last ten days. During the interim government’s existence, at least six summonses to the neighboring country’s envoy have been made due to various situations.
Verma was called to the Foreign Ministry on December 14 prior to today.
According to a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs after the meeting, India’s assistance was sought in order to stop the assailants who attacked Inquilab Moncho convener Sharif Osman Hadi from escaping to India.
