GUWAHATI — Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma unveiled a major administrative decision on August 15, introducing the Assam eight new sub-districts. The announcement coincided with India’s 80th Independence Day celebrations. This move aims to bring governance directly to the doorsteps of local communities.

The newly declared sub-districts include Kamalpur, Barhampur, Rangnadi, Chichibargaon, Chabua-Lahowal, Khumtai, Katigorah, and Barkhola.
