Triveni Engineering’s VC & MD Tarun Sawhney highlights the importance of clean mobility solutions, especially for the future of heavy-duty transportation.

Delhi, New Delhi:  At the 6th International Energy Conference and Exhibition, experts and business executives stated that India is making steady progress toward cleaner and more sustainable mobility, with a particular emphasis on renewable energy, alternative fuels, and lowering reliance on imports of crude oil.

The automotive industry has been at the forefront of adopting new technology, Puneet Anand, Assistant Vice President & Group Head Corporate Affairs and Social, Hyundai Motor India, told ANI in reference to the drive for alternative energies.

“Emerging Technologies for Cleaner Mobility was the topic of today’s session, which is about alternative energies. This session is really exciting, and I believe the Prime Minister has already laid the groundwork for India to achieve carbon neutrality by 2070. And now the entire nation is striving to realize this goal of becoming an independent economy, including the government and all of the OEMs,” Anand stated.

He clarified that the industry is currently developing flex-fuel and hydrogen-powered vehicles after making strides with CNG and electric automobiles.

The session, according to Anand, highlighted new global trends that support India’s objectives. “These are the vehicles that will help us to safeguard our economy, reduce the import of crude oil, and ensure that whatever material or things we have in India, like corn or sugarcane, can be used to produce energy-compliant vehicles,” he said.

The need of clean mobility solutions, particularly for heavy-duty transportation, was also emphasized by Tarun Sawhney, Vice Chairman & Managing Director, Triveni Engineering & Industries.

“The future of clean mobility was the topic of the presentation I just shared. We talked about some really intriguing features of LNG for trucks, which creates an ecosystem that makes it possible for heavy-duty vehicles to drive four times as far between charges. On the fringes of the conference, he told ANI, “That seems like a fantastic solution, not just for the transportation sector, but for consumers and the environment as well.”

Ethanol mixing is another important advancement, Sawhney continued. We discussed ethanol blending, goals beyond E20, and the necessary steps to create an E27 and E100 environment where customers may purchase either 100% ethanol or ethanol-blended gasoline at gas stations nationwide. The automakers’ announcement that everything is set was really exciting. From a vehicle viewpoint, they are prepared and eager for this significant shift in Indian e-mobility, but we heard from Hyundai that it is really all about implementation,” he told ANI.

BluPine CEO stresses policy support for India’s renewable energy goals and Atmanirbhar Bharat vision.

Neerav Nanavaty, CEO of BluPine Energy, added to the conversations by pointing out that one of India’s long-term objectives is the expansion of renewable energy in the nation.

It concerns the conference on renewable energy as well as other power-related topics. It essentially brings all the energy sources together to see how we can realize the Prime Minister’s vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat in the electricity sector and Viksit Bharat by 2047. It encompasses the full spectrum of transmission, distribution, and generation,” Nanavaty stated.

He underlined the necessity of ongoing policy assistance. “India has advanced to this point in the renewable energy field thanks in large part to the efforts of the government. We want more help in certain areas where we need it, including transmission access to speed up the deployment of renewable energy sources. We also want more help with distribution, norms and regulations, and a solid regulatory framework. In terms of manufacturing as well, so that we can move from where we are now to Atmanirbhar, a fully autonomous manufacturing sector in India,” he stated.
