Punjab Gears Up for a Spectacular Hola Mohalla 2025 Celebration with Comprehensive Arrangements
The Punjab government is all set to welcome a record number of devotees to the globally acclaimed Hola Mohalla festival in 2025, celebrating Sikh heritage and the glorious history of Punjab. The festival, which will be held from March 10 to 15 at Kiratpur Sahib and Sri Anandpur Sahib, is expected to attract pilgrims and tourists from across the globe. Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains recently reviewed the final preparations, ensuring that all arrangements are in place for the comfort and safety of visitors.
A Festival That Reflects Sikh Glory and Punjab’s Rich Heritage
Hola Mohalla is a celebration of Sikh pride and history, drawing attention to the unique traditions of Sikhism, martial arts, and cultural exhibitions. It is held annually at Sri Anandpur Sahib, the birthplace of the Khalsa. This year, Punjab’s Rupnagar district administration, led by Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain and SSP Gulneet Singh Khurana, has put in place comprehensive arrangements for the smooth conduct of the festival.
Bains emphasized that the government is committed to offering the best possible experience for the millions expected to attend the event, with a focus on safety, convenience, and environmental sustainability.
Key Arrangements for Hola Mohalla 2025
The district administration has left no stone unturned in its preparation for this iconic festival. Here are the main aspects of the arrangements:
- Enhanced Safety and Security
With the safety of thousands of pilgrims in mind, more than 4,000 police officers and personnel will be deployed across the festival area. The region will be under constant surveillance with CCTV cameras and high observation posts. Additionally, anti-social elements, drug dealers, and miscreants have been warned in advance, and stern action will be taken against any disruptions.
- No Dark Zone
This year, the entire festival area has been declared a “No Dark Zone”, ensuring that all areas are well-lit. The streets and main gates of Sri Anandpur Sahib will be brightly illuminated with LED lights, creating a festive and welcoming atmosphere for visitors.
- Parking and Transportation
To ensure smooth movement for pilgrims, the district administration has set up 22 parking areas, all equipped with proper lighting, drinking water facilities, and temporary toilets. From these parking areas, free shuttle buses and e-rickshaws will transport devotees to the holy shrines, making access easy and convenient.
- Dedicated Healthcare Services
Health services will be a priority during the event. Dispensaries will be set up in all sectors of the festival area, ensuring medical assistance is available whenever needed. In addition, veterinary dispensaries will cater to the needs of the horses used by the Nihang Singhs, adding an extra layer of care for the participants in traditional Sikh martial arts. Furthermore, special arrangements have been made for the safety and comfort of nursing mothers with dedicated baby feeding centers.
- Environmentally Friendly Festival
A major emphasis has been placed on making this year’s Hola Mohalla pollution-free, green, and plastic-free. The district administration has undertaken a special cleanliness drive, focusing on the collection and management of plastic and disposable waste. Pilgrims are urged to respect the environment and avoid littering during the festival.
- Virasat-e-Khalsa and Cultural Events
The Virasat-e-Khalsa complex, which showcases the history of Sikhism, will remain open 24/7 for the duration of the festival. Additionally, adventure sports like hot air balloons and boating will be available for attendees seeking a thrilling experience. A craft fair at Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa College will offer visitors an opportunity to explore Punjab’s progress and prosperity through local crafts and exhibitions.
- Traffic Management and Route Diversions
To ensure smooth traffic flow, especially for vehicles coming from surrounding areas, route diversions have been carefully planned. These measures will help avoid congestion and keep pilgrims moving towards the festival area without any delays.
- Lost and Found Services
A Lost and Found desk will be established at the festival, alongside helplines for addressing complaints, queries, and security issues. Six LED screens placed in key areas will provide pilgrims with live updates and vital information.
Emphasizing the Importance of Smooth Traffic and Public Cooperation
Harjot Singh Bains stressed the importance of cooperation from the public to ensure that the festival proceeds smoothly. Shopkeepers and commercial establishments have been instructed not to block roads with temporary encroachments, and efforts will be made to ensure that the event area remains organized and accessible. Dedicated teams will monitor food and beverage quality, ensuring the safety of pilgrims consuming refreshments at the festival.
A Message of Welcome and Safety
Bains concluded by urging pilgrims to visit Sri Anandpur Sahib wholeheartedly and pay obeisance during Hola Mohalla. He reiterated that the security, convenience, and comfort of visitors are the top priorities, with the Punjab government committed to providing a festival that celebrates both tradition and safety.
This year’s Hola Mohalla promises to be a magnificent and well-organized event, welcoming thousands of pilgrims from across the globe. With robust arrangements in place, including comprehensive security, health services, transportation, and environmental measures, Punjab is ready to host one of the grandest Sikh festivals of the year.
