High Court: Why was the POCSO Act not invoked against the teacher who stripped the students?

by P D

Indore : The High Court has made a strong comment in the case of objectionable examination of girl students by teacher Dr. Jaya Pavanar in order to show strictness due to the fear of bringing mobile phones in the government school.

The court rejected the anticipatory bail plea of the teacher and termed the behaviour of the teacher as extremely cruel and rejected the bail plea. During the hearing, the police, while opposing the bail, said the POCSO Act was applicable but did not mention it in the FIR. The court directed the police to investigate the matter.
The teacher pleaded that she has experience of teaching children for 23 years and is ready to accept all conditions imposed by the court for anticipatory bail. However, the court rejected her plea.
