Gurugram, December 12, 2024: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh has taken a significant step toward promoting women’s education and empowerment by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Power Grid Corporation of India Limited. The agreement, finalized on December 12, 2024, at the PWD Rest House in Gurugram, is part of a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative under the Haryana State CSR Trust.
This ₹20.37 crore project aims to enhance the educational infrastructure at Government Women’s College, Sector 14, Gurugram. It includes the construction of a 100-bed girls’ hostel and a 40-room teaching block, along with the provision of advanced IT, medical, and music equipment.
The initiative reflects the government’s commitment to empowering young women by improving access to quality education and fostering professional growth opportunities. Speaking at the event, Chief Minister Nayab Singh highlighted the importance of the project, stating, “Our government is dedicated to empowering daughters through better educational facilities. This initiative aligns with our mission of ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao,’ inspired by the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”
Union Minister of State and Gurugram MP Rao Inderjit Singh, who was also present, emphasized the importance of public-private partnerships in driving societal change. He remarked, “This collaboration with Power Grid Corporation is a testament to how joint efforts can create impactful results. Empowering women remains a cornerstone of our development strategy.”
The MOU signing ceremony was attended by several prominent leaders, including Cabinet Minister Rao Narbir Singh, Gurugram MLA Mukesh Sharma, Pataudi MLA Bimla Chaudhary, and Sohna MLA Tejpal Tanwar. Their presence underscored the government’s united approach toward advancing women’s education and empowerment.
The new infrastructure is expected to significantly benefit the students of Government Women’s College. The 100-bed hostel will provide a safe and supportive environment for female students, while the state-of-the-art teaching block and equipment aim to enhance learning experiences. This project is also anticipated to inspire similar initiatives in other parts of the state.
The government and Power Grid Corporation are optimistic that this project will lead to higher enrollment rates and better career opportunities for young women.
