Raid 2 Movie Review: Ajay Devgn Returns with Action, Drama, and a Strong Story
Ajay Devgn is back as honest income tax officer Amay Patnaik in Raid 2, the second part of the hit movie Raid from 2018. Directed by Rajkumar Gupta, this movie released on May 1, 2025, and is full of action, suspense, and powerful performances.
Story & Acting
In Raid 2, Ajay Devgn’s character goes up against a powerful and corrupt politician named Dadabhai, played by Riteish Deshmukh. While Ajay is calm and honest, Riteish’s character is smart, dangerous, and acts like a good man in public. Their face-off is the heart of the movie.

Riteish Deshmukh has surprised everyone with his serious role. He is usually seen in comedy films, but here, he plays a villain perfectly. Ajay Devgn, as always, delivers a strong and confident performance. Vaani Kapoor is the new female lead. She plays Ajay’s wife, and though her role is not big, she does well.
Direction & Music
Director Rajkumar Gupta has done a good job by keeping the story simple yet powerful. He mixes real-life issues with drama and action very well. The movie has thrilling moments that keep you hooked.
The romantic song Kamle, sung by Sachet-Parampara, is beautifully shot in Rajasthan and adds an emotional touch to the story.
Box Office & Competition
Raid 2 had a strong start even before release. It made over ₹10 crore through advance booking and was expected to earn around ₹12–14 crore on Day 1.
Even though other movies like Thunderbolts (from Marvel) and HIT 3 also released around the same time, Raid 2 managed to get attention because of Ajay Devgn and the strong story.
Censor Board Rating
The film got a new U/A 7+ rating, meaning it’s okay for kids over 7 with parental guidance. The censor board asked for some small changes, like cutting a few seconds and changing a political dialogue.
What People Are Saying
People on social media are saying the movie is gripping and has a great second half. Many are calling it a strong sequel. Critics gave it 3 out of 5 stars. Some say the first Raid was slightly better, but this one is still worth watching.
