The much-awaited Madhubala biopic has finally moved forward with makers confirming actress Sara Arjun as the lead to portray the legendary Bollywood icon. The project, which has been in discussion for a long time, is now officially back on track after multiple delays.
According to reports, the Madhubala biopic will be produced by renowned filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, while direction will be handled by Jasmeet K Reen, who previously directed Darlings (2022). The film is expected to go on floors in July 2026.

The Madhubala biopic will also feature key historical figures from the golden era of Indian cinema, including roles inspired by Dilip Kumar and Kishore Kumar, with casting for these characters currently underway.
Interestingly, reports suggest that the Madhubala biopic may be released on a digital streaming platform instead of a theatrical release, although no official confirmation has been made by the makers.
