Hema Malini votes in Maharashtra BMC elections, faces irate voters over polling setup, and urges citizens to participate in Mumbai’s democratic process.
Voting for the Maharashtra BMC elections began on Wednesday, January 15. Among the well-known Bollywood figures who cast ballots was veteran performer and BJP MP Hema Malini. The actress spoke to the media outside the polling station after casting her ballot, showing off her inked finger with pride. But when several irate people questioned the apparent unique access she receives, the situation quickly became ugly.
At the polling station, Hema Malini encounters irate voters.
Hema Malini is seen speaking with reporters in a video that went viral on social media earlier in the day after a clearly irate voter challenged her about the setup at the voting station. The individual claimed that he was receiving preferential treatment and that there was poor management and lengthy wait times. “We have been here for the last 60 years, and for the first time, there is chaos here,” he was heard to add. I arrived here at 7.45 AM, and I cast my ballot at 9.30 AM. No one is responsible. No one is responsible! There isn’t even a local employee present.
Hema motioned for one of her team members to intervene and take care of the complaint as things got out of hand. She then went back to addressing the media, pushing people to take part in the democratic process. “Sab logo ko vote dene ke liye aana chahiye,” she stated, highlighting the significance of casting a ballot. Vote dene, jaise abhi subah main aa gayi hoon. Everybody must attend the voting process. Mera aagey bohot kaam hain woh bhi karenge. For example, I came in the morning to cast my ballot. I have a lot of work ahead of me. However, this is crucial for all Mumbai residents.
Bollywood stars cast ballots
Throughout the day, a number of movie stars were seen at Mumbai polling stations. Akshay Kumar, Twinkle Khanna, Sanya Malhotra, John Abraham, Tamannaah Bhatia, Zoya Akhtar, Divya Dutta, Nana Patekar, and musician Vishal Dadlani were among those who voted.
The municipal elections will be counted on Friday, January 16, after polling opened at 7.30 am and run until 5.30 pm. According to the State Election Commission, there are enough electronic voting machines in place to guarantee a seamless polling process. In Maharashtra, 87,916 ballot units and 43,958 control units have been set up. Authorities have established 11,349 control units and 22,698 ballot units for the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation elections alone.
