Bandar Box Office Collection Day 1: Bobby Deol’s Comeback Film Opens at Just ₹50 Lakh

Despite strong pre-release buzz and festival acclaim, Bobby Deol’s Bandar records a weak opening at the box office with just ₹50 lakh on Day 1.

Bandar Box Office Collection Day 1 has surprised trade analysts, but not for the reasons fans were hoping. After generating significant buzz following its screening at the Toronto International Film Festival 2025, Bobby Deol’s much-awaited comeback film Bandar finally hit theatres on June 5, 2026. However, the film failed to convert the pre-release excitement into strong box office numbers.

According to early estimates from Sacnilk, the Bandar Box Office Collection Day 1 stood at just ₹50 lakh. The opening figure is considered disappointing, especially for a film that marked Bobby Deol’s return as a lead actor on the big screen after several years.

Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, Bandar received attention for its intriguing trailer and festival acclaim. Despite the positive buzz, audience turnout remained low on its first day, making the Bandar Box Office Collection Day 1 one of the weaker openings among recent Bollywood releases.

Can Weekend Growth Save Bandar?

Trade experts believe the film still has a chance to improve its performance over the weekend through positive word-of-mouth. However, the initial response suggests that Bandar faces an uphill battle at the box office.

Reports indicate that Bandar was made on a budget of approximately ₹25 crore. Industry standards suggest that a film should earn at least 10% of its budget on opening day to be considered an average start. In comparison, the Bandar Box Office Collection Day 1 falls significantly short of that benchmark.

Tough Competition at the Box Office

One of the major reasons behind the film’s slow start could be the intense competition. Romantic drama Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, which released on the same day, reportedly earned ₹7.50 crore on its opening day. Additionally, the Telugu sports-action film Peddi has emerged as a box office juggernaut, collecting over ₹90 crore within its first two days.

With two strong competitors attracting audiences, the Bandar Box Office Collection Day 1 appears to have suffered from limited screen occupancy and lower footfalls.

What Is Bandar About?

Bandar follows the story of Sameer Mehra, played by Bobby Deol, a former television superstar trying to rebuild his career and personal life. His relationship with partner Khushi, portrayed by Saba Azad, seems stable until his ex-girlfriend Gayatri, played by Sapna Pabbi, re-enters his life. The narrative takes a dramatic turn when Gayatri accuses Sameer of rape, leading to a gripping and emotionally charged conflict.

Despite its bold storyline and strong performances, the film now faces the challenge of sustaining itself at the box office after a weak opening. All eyes will be on the weekend numbers to see whether the Bandar Box Office Collection Day 1 result was merely a slow start or a sign of bigger troubles ahead.
