Just days after announcing his decision to step back from playback singing, Arijit Singh made a heartfelt return to live performance in his hometown of Kolkata. The event, his first stage appearance since the announcement, became an emotionally charged evening filled with nostalgia, music, and candid interactions with fans.

A Homecoming Brimming With Music and Emotion

The concert took place on Sunday at Kolkata’s Netaji Indoor Stadium, where Arijit Singh shared the stage with sitar maestro Anoushka Shankar for a special performance. As social media clips of the night circulated, one moment stood out: Anoushka welcoming Arijit on stage to thunderous applause. Clearly moved, Arijit told the audience, “I am very nervous. Thank you for having me.”

The evening began with a collaboration between Arijit, Anoushka, and percussionist Bickram Ghosh, performing Maya Bhora Raati, a rare Bengali composition originally sung by Lakshmi Shankar and composed by Pandit Ravi Shankar. The performance, deeply rooted in classical tradition, resonated strongly with the audience.

Arijit Singh also shared that he had recently visited Anoushka at her home, where they spent time creating music together, highlighting a creative bond that goes beyond live performances.
