Ensure zero delay in issuing NOCs after ascertaining facts: Lal Chand Kataruchak

Forest & Wildlife Preservation Minister emphasizes natural plantation in Kandi region & developing wildlife sanctuaries

Chandigarh, December 12: With a view to increase the efficacy of the Forest & Wildlife Preservation Department and streamline it’s functioning, the Forest & Wildlife Preservation Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak directed the officers of the department to speed up the ongoing projects and complete them in a timely manner and properly utilize the grants received so as to make sure that they do not lapse.

In a high level meeting here at the Punjab Civil Secretariat, the Minister was apprised that as per the development plan for Dirba Park, toilets, boundary wall are proposed to be constructed besides the landscaping, walking track, guard quarter would also be done. As regards the plantation, it would also be undertaken after Mid-February as by then the winter season would be over.

Taking up the issue of NOCs under the Forest Conservation Act, 1980, the Minister directed that there should be no delay in issuing the NOCs after ascertaining of the facts. Further, no corrupt practices would be tolerated as is the policy of the Punjab Government.

Exhorting the officers to work as a cohesive team in the best interests of the State, the Minister emphasized exploring the option of natural plantation in the Kandi regions apart from developing the Kathlour Wildlife Sanctuary and the proper maintenance of the vulture restaurant in Pathankot.

Among others present on the occasion included the Financial Commissioner (Forests) Vikas Garg, PCCF R.K. Mishra, CCF (FCA) Basanta Raj Kumar and Conservator of Forests (South Circle) Ajit Kulkarni.
