India’s 6.5 lakh villages are scattered across 32 million 87 thousand square kilometers.

For the first time, the Indian government has completed the mapping and documentation of all these villages.

The ‘Mera Gaon, Meri Dharohar’ initiative was initiated by the National Mission on Cultural Mapping. On July 27, 2023, a web site for MGMD was launched.

More than 4 lakh villages have been documented to date, with short movies of approximately 1,000 villages also published.

Let’s take a virtual voyage via Mera Gaon and Meri Dharohar… MGMD’s objectives include cultural mapping of communities on a comprehensive virtual platform.

To increase cultural vibrancy through awareness campaigns, safeguard cultural history and traditions, revive endangered arts and practices, and create a national platform for promoting artworks.

To connect artists with e-commerce as well as current Indian government schemes and welfare schemes.
