A one-year-old child who was abducted and sold for money has been safely retrieved by the Delhi police. Five people have been taken into custody by the authorities in relation to this case, four of them are women whose identities have not been made public.

When the Sultanpuri PS was notified about the missing child—who was last seen on Kanjhawala Road in Krishan Vihar on June 6 at around 10:30 PM—the event came to light on July 8. “A woman named ‘S’ took the boy away. A case was filed, and the inquiry was started right away based on the mother of the missing child, identified as “C,” the police stated in a statement.

The lady who is suspected of kidnapping the youngster in Delhi’s Krishan Vihar was captured by the police after a thorough examination of the suspects’ call logs and CCTV video.

She admitted, under interrogation, to stealing the boy for Rs. 1,50,000 and selling him to a different woman for Rs. 2,10,000. The second woman was subsequently taken into custody by the police from her Delhi home, where she confessed to having sold the child for Rs. 3,30,000 to a couple in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh.

Immediately after, a police team was dispatched to Mathura, where they apprehended the parents and successfully retrieved the infant.

They also detained another woman who served as a go-between for the couple and the other ladies who were implicated. Arpit, the husband, told the police that the pair wanted to raise a child because they were childless and that one of the accused women was a relative.

According to the authorities, there may be further people implicated in this crime as the investigation is still ongoing.
