Delhi-Meerut Expressway will be closed for five days.

Delhi-Meerut Expressway will be closed for next five days due to the Kanwar Yatra, with planned traffic detours.

By the end of this month, commuters traveling to and from Delhi will experience significant delays.

For the Kanwar Yatra, the police have decided to close nearly the whole Delhi-Meerut Expressway (DME) stretch via Ghaziabad.

All six lanes of the highway from the Kashi toll plaza near the border with Meerut to the UP Gate at the border with Delhi will be closed for at least five days starting on the evening of July 28.

The nearby NH-9 lanes will remain open even if the DME will be closed.

A comprehensive traffic diversion plan is being developed by the authorities to handle this time, according to Police Commissioner Ajay Kumar Mishra.

A similar diversion on NH-9 last year resulted in traffic congestion. The DND Flyway, Noida Expressway, and Eastern Peripheral Expressway were used to divert the majority of the cars.

We observed the majority of the dak kanwariyas on DME last year. We will therefore permit them to utilize DME and redirect other vehicles this year. To reduce disruption, we’ll post the diversion strategy on social media and through other channels
