In order to relieve traffic congestion, a panel led by Chief Minister (CM) Nayab Singh Saini of Haryana, the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) approved the installation of 10,000 top-notch CCTV cameras and the building of flyovers at the intersections of Sectors 45–46–51–52 and 85–86–89–90 on Wednesday.

After a thorough discussion of the various agenda items, the GMDA approved a budget of ₹2,887 crore for the 2024–25 fiscal year.

This included increasing the capacity of CCTV cameras for city surveillance and adaptive traffic management, building new water treatment plants, expanding the capacity of existing ones, and fortifying the network of water drainage and sewer treatment plants.

 

The chief minister voiced concern about Gurugram’s waterlogging problem at the meeting and ordered officials to act without delay.

He requested that they use all resource available to quickly address waterlogging. Saini reaffirmed that no carelessness will be allowed and stated he would personally oversee the issue by visiting Gurugram.

He also directed chief secretary TVSN Prasad to hold officers concerned accountable for their responsibilities in this matter.

 

At an anticipated cost of ₹422 crore, the GMDA panel approved the installation of CCTV project Phase 3 for city monitoring and adaptive traffic management.

 

₹52 crore was allotted when the Sector 45-46-51-52 intersection’s flyover construction was approved. Similar to this, a second flyover will be built to improve mobility and assist commuters at the intersection of Sectors 85-86-89-90.

 

During the meeting, the project to upgrade the southern periphery road (SPR) was also approved. This calls for the construction of an elevated corridor and interchange between Vatika Chowk and NH-48 CPR. This would come at an estimated cost of ₹620 crore.

 

The GMDA authority authorized the ₹634 crore estimated cost of Tau Devi Lal Stadium’s renovation in Gurugram to provide contemporary sports infrastructure.

At a cost of ₹70 crore, the conference approved the purchase of 200 electric buses for use in the GMDA region under the gross cost contracting approach.

 

“The installation of these electric buses is an important step in the direction of encouraging sustainable urban transportation and lowering the city’s carbon footprint. The spokeswoman stated, “To assure passenger comfort and safety, these buses will be outfitted with the newest technology.

 

The master stormwater drainage system in Sector 76–80 along National Highway-48 will be installed, costing ₹215 crore.

At an anticipated cost of ₹51 crore and ₹75 crore, respectively, the proposal to upgrade the 120 MLD sewerage treatment plant at Behrampur and the 100 MLD STP at Dhanwapur, Gurugram, has been authorized.

 

Additionally, approval was given for the two-phase, ₹500 crore-estimated construction of two STPs in Sector 107, each with a capacity of 100 MLD.

 

The development of a civil hospital, door-to-door rubbish collection, the drainage improvement plan, and a new bus stand were among the other topics covered during the conference.

 

State Minister for Transportation and Minister of Town and Country Planning JP Dalal Minister of State for Urban Local Bodies, Aseem Goyal State Minister for Forests and Sports, Subhash Sudha in addition to senior officers, Sanjay Singh was one of the attendees at the conference.

 

Rao Inderjit Singh, the union minister of state for statistics and program execution, and other GMDA members participated in the meeting by videoconference.
