CM Nitish Kumar Distributes Appointment Letters to 1,239 New Police Sub-Inspectors
October 21, 2024 : Chief Minister Nitish Kumar attended a significant program held at the Bapu Auditorium in Samrat Ashok Convention Center, where he handed over appointment certificates to 1,239 newly appointed police sub-inspectors. This is a major step towards strengthening the law enforcement agencies in the state and addressing the growing demands of public safety.
Among the newly appointed officers, 442 are women, marking a significant advancement in gender inclusivity in Bihar’s police force. The Chief Minister extended his heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to all the new recruits, urging them to uphold their duties with dedication and commitment.
Strengthening Bihar’s Police Force: A Vision for 2025
In his address, CM Nitish Kumar highlighted the major reforms implemented in Bihar’s police force since his government came to power in 2005. At that time, the total strength of the police force was around 42,000. Over the years, the state has focused on accelerating police recruitment to ensure a robust law enforcement system. As a result, the strength of the police force has now grown to 1,10,000, reflecting a more substantial and capable workforce to address the challenges of maintaining law and order across Bihar.
In a landmark move in 2013, the state government introduced a 35% reservation for women in the police force, which significantly increased the number of female officers. Today, Bihar boasts the highest ratio of women in its police force across the country, a proud achievement for the state. CM Nitish Kumar expressed confidence that the newly appointed sub-inspectors, including the 442 women recruits, would bring positive changes to the policing landscape.
Employment Commitment: 7 Lakh Jobs Already Provided
The CM also addressed the state’s ongoing efforts to create employment and provide job opportunities for the youth of Bihar. Under the ambitious Saat Nischay-2 initiative launched in 2020, the state government promised to create 10 lakh jobs and 10 lakh employment opportunities for the youth by 2025.
As of today, Bihar has successfully provided 7,16,000 jobs to the youth, and CM Nitish Kumar reaffirmed the government’s commitment to meet the target of 12 lakh jobs by the end of June 2025, surpassing the original goal.
Furthermore, Bihar has successfully provided employment to 24 lakh people so far, with plans in place to offer employment to an additional 10 lakh individuals. This move not only addresses the growing demand for jobs but also ensures a steady and inclusive economic development trajectory for the state.
A Vision of Inclusive Growth and Security
CM Nitish Kumar reiterated the importance of inclusive growth and public safety as key pillars of his administration. By expanding the police force, ensuring gender equality in law enforcement, and delivering on promises of employment, his government aims to foster a safe and prosperous Bihar.
The appointment of 1,239 police sub-inspectors is part of the broader effort to modernize and strengthen Bihar’s police infrastructure. With increased recruitment and focused training, the state is ensuring that its law enforcement agencies are well-equipped to meet the challenges posed by crime and security concerns.
Conclusion: A Commitment to Public Service and Development
The distribution of appointment certificates is a reminder of the Bihar government’s commitment to public service, law and order, and employment generation. As the state prepares for future growth, the new recruits in the police force will play a pivotal role in maintaining peace, order, and justice across Bihar. The government’s efforts to empower women in policing and create ample job opportunities for the youth underscore its vision of a progressive and inclusive Bihar.
As Bihar heads toward its ambitious targets for 2025, the state is poised for continued growth in both its law enforcement capabilities and its efforts to provide sustainable employment to its people.
