Mohali (SAS Nagar)/Chandigarh, January 4 – In line with Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s vision to deliver streamlined and transparent services, the Punjab government has committed to transforming the property registration process for state residents. A state-of-the-art Sub Registrar Office is now set to be established in Mohali Tehsil, promising an efficient, hassle-free experience for property transactions, all under one roof.

Chief Secretary Anurag Verma, who conducted an unannounced inspection of various public offices within Mohali’s District Administrative Complex, revealed key details about the new facility. This office, once completed, will allow property buyers and sellers to complete the entire registration process in a record 90 minutes. “Under the Chief Minister’s directive, we are committed to providing transparent, citizen-friendly services,” Verma noted. The Chief Secretary took time to interact with citizens directly, gathering feedback on their experiences with public offices to ensure that improvements align with residents’ needs.

During his visit, Verma also inspected the Tehsil Office, Farad Center, and RTA offices, stressing that citizens should receive timely assistance in government offices without facing unnecessary obstacles. He reminded staff of the Chief Minister’s directive to facilitate a smooth experience for all visitors.

Verma also chaired a detailed meeting with departmental and district officials to discuss the upcoming Sub Registrar Office. He emphasized that the new office is being equipped with modern facilities aimed at eliminating the traditional delays associated with property registration. This includes streamlined processes for property deed preparation, stamp paper procurement, EKYC identification, and photography – all set to be completed within 90 minutes. Residents will receive a color print of the registry deed on the same day of registration, ensuring that their documentation is both prompt and accessible.

Among the office’s unique features will be dedicated counters for various steps of the registration process. There will also be an online counter for citizens preferring to prepare their documentation from home or requiring assistance in drafting a will. This initiative is expected to simplify the legal process for all Punjab residents, particularly benefiting women through a 2% discount in stamp duty. To further support female registrants, the new office will provide special seating areas and waiting facilities.

Additionally, the modern office will feature a waiting area with comfortable seating and amenities for all visitors. Those with a pre-scheduled appointment can use their mobile device to confirm their time slot, reducing wait times and improving overall service efficiency.

Special Chief Secretary cum Finance Commissioner Revenue KAP Sinha also addressed the team, emphasizing that all staff and resources must be aligned with the demands of the growing population seeking registration services. The government is committed to meeting the anticipated increase in foot traffic, ensuring that the new office remains efficient even as demand grows.

Present during Verma’s visit were several high-ranking officials, including Secretary PWD Priyank Bharti, Special Secretary Revenue Keshav Hingonia, Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain, Staff Officer T. Benith, SSP Dr. Sandeep Garg, ADC (General) Viraj S Tidke, SDM Chandra Jyoti Singh, Chief Architect Sapna, DRO Amandeep Chawla, Sub Registrar Birkaran Singh, and Tehsildar Kuldeep Singh Dhillon.

This newly planned Sub Registrar Office in Mohali demonstrates the Punjab government’s focus on citizen-centric reform, promoting efficiency and transparency. By reducing the time required for property transactions, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann’s administration aims to set a standard for public service that other regions may follow. The Punjab government’s approach toward modernizing civic services is a testament to its commitment to a transparent and efficient administrative process that addresses the needs of all citizens while fostering a culture of accountability and innovation in the public sector.
