CM Dr. Yadav Urges Celebration of Govardhan Parv with Emphasis on Folk and Cultural Traditions

Madhya Pradesh will celebrate Govardhan Parv on Oct 21 with traditional rituals, honoring dairy innovators, cultural events, Annakoot Bhog, and local product exhibitions.

In accordance with traditional customs and cultural rituals, the Govardhan Parv will be celebrated throughout the state on October 21, according to Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav. He directed that Gaupalaks and Gaushala proprietors be granted special participation in the festivities. Entrepreneurs who have made exceptional contributions or innovations in the fields of animal husbandry and dairy production will also be honored at the event.

On Monday, the chief minister, Dr. Yadav, addressed a meeting at the ministry to discuss the organization of the Govardhan Parv. The meeting was attended by senior officials and Chief Secretary Shri Anurag Jain.

It was disclosed that cowsheds throughout the state will host community celebrations of the Govardhan Festival. The primary event will take place at Ravindra Bhavan in Bhopal and will include the Annakoot Bhog ritual, circumambulation, and Govardhan worship. This event will also feature cultural performances by cattle-herding communities, such as the Baredi and Thatya routines.

The venue will be equipped with stalls that will exhibit organic products, dairy products, and cow-dung-based crafts. Special provisions will be implemented to disseminate information regarding the Animal Husbandry, Agriculture, and Cooperation Departments’ initiatives. The ‘Vrindavan Gram’ Yojana will be expanded, and activities will be conducted to promote rural livelihoods through dairy production.

Activities associated with the Govardhan Festival will be implemented in each district. Food items derived from Panchgavya products, such as ghee, milk, paneer, and curd, will be distributed at Anganwadi centers.
