Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami inspected the soil erosion caused by the Gaula River in Haldwani on Tuesday. During the inspection, he directed the Irrigation Department to start channelization, wire crate and protective work in 500 meters of the Gaula River.

He directed the District Magistrate Nainital to make a concrete policy for protective measures to protect the International Stadium in Haldwani from soil erosion. He said that whatever financial approval is required at the government level for this, will be made available soon.

The Chief Minister directed the implementing agencies to implement the scheme by giving priority to the evacuation plan so that the construction being done in the name of planned development in the construction works does not pose any threat to any other geographical, natural structure.

The Chief Minister directed that all officers should remain on alert mode for 24 hours in view of disaster management during the monsoon season. He said that it is the responsibility of all of us to minimize the effects of natural disaster, for this all departments should regularly monitor drinking water, electricity, road connectivity and other basic facilities in their respective areas.

As soon as information of heavy rainfall is received in any area, a team should be sent immediately, and relief and rescue work should be done as far as possible. He directed that it should be ensured that relief material and permissible amount can be given to the affected people on the spot for relief and rescue work.

District Magistrate Nainital Vandana Singh said that the Irrigation Department has sent a DPR of Rs 2 crore 60 lakhs to the government for long-term works to prevent soil erosion of 200 meters, which is at the stage of approval.

Due to heavy rainfall, now a total of about 600 meters of soil erosion has occurred. DPR of additional 400 meters part is being prepared soon and sent to the government.
