CEO Sibin C visits Chandigarh Press Club, emphasizes pivotal role of press in ensuring transparent, free, and fair elections

Chandigarh, March 31: The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Punjab, Sibin C, visited the Chandigarh Press Club today in conjunction with the annual election of office bearers of the Chandigarh Press Club. During his visit, he lauded the club for conducting a thorough democratic process for the election of its office bearers.

On this occasion, Sibin C emphasized the pivotal role of the press in ensuring transparent, free, and fair elections. He called upon the members of the press to act as the eyes and ears of the Election Commission, thus ensuring the comprehensive implementation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) across Punjab. Additionally, he urged the press to assist in increasing awareness among the citizens about ‘C-Vigil’ application, for reporting any MCC violation.

The journalists in attendance expressed their gratitude to the CEO for his visit and for the facilitation of the provision of voting through postal ballots for the journalists on election duty, in Lok Sabha Elections 2024.
