futures market on Monday, February 23. On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), the gold futures contract expiring on April 2, 2026 opened at ₹1,58,458 per 10 grams. In the previous trading session, gold had settled at ₹1,56,876 per 10 grams.
By around 9:55 AM, the April gold futures contract was trading 1.81 percent higher, up nearly ₹2,900, at ₹1,59,716 per 10 grams. During early trade, gold touched an intraday high of ₹1,60,600.
Silver Prices Surge
Silver prices also recorded a sharp jump. The March 5, 2026 expiry silver futures contract on MCX was trading at ₹2,66,629 per kilogram, marking a rise of 5.41 percent or ₹13,685. The contract had opened at ₹2,63,061 and hit a high of ₹2,68,875 during the trading session.
In major cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Chennai, silver prices have climbed significantly. The price of 10 grams of silver stands at ₹3,000 in Delhi, Kolkata, and Mumbai. For 100 grams, buyers need to spend ₹30,000. In Chennai, silver is also priced at ₹3,000 per 10 grams.
