BJP Makes a Historic Comeback in Delhi and Wins Milkipur Bypoll: A Major Political Milestone

BJP’s Historic Win in Delhi After 27 Years

In an unprecedented turn of events, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has reclaimed power in Delhi after a staggering 27 years. The victory, which has captivated the national political landscape, signals a new chapter for the BJP in the capital. This win holds monumental significance, as it not only reflects the party’s stronghold in the national arena but also acts as a stepping stone for the saffron party’s ambitions in other regions.

While the party celebrated the victory in Delhi, there was another achievement that has garnered immense attention: BJP’s resounding success in the Milkipur Assembly bypolls in Uttar Pradesh. The win was especially remarkable, as it avenged the party’s defeat in the 2022 Assembly elections in Ayodhya district, where Milkipur was the only seat lost.

The Milkipur Bypoll: BJP’s Strong Comeback

Chandrabhanu Paswan, BJP’s candidate for the Milkipur (SC) seat, won with a stunning margin of 61,710 votes, as per the Election Commission’s official results. This victory not only delivered a crucial win for the BJP but also cemented its hold on the entire Faizabad Lok Sabha constituency, comprising Rudauli, Bikapur, Ayodhya, and the Milkipur seat.

The BJP’s successful comeback in Milkipur has put the party in control of all five assembly segments of Faizabad, a critical area for political consolidation. This win reflects the BJP’s strategic campaigning efforts in the region, with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath leading the charge. Adityanath’s leadership was key, as he monitored the campaign for over two months, delivering multiple speeches and rallying support across the constituency.

Anti-Incumbency and Scandals Fuel BJP’s Victory

One of the key factors behind the BJP’s triumph in Milkipur was the widespread anti-incumbency sentiment against the Samajwadi Party (SP). The political narrative around the brutal murder of a 22-year-old Dalit woman in Ayodhya played a pivotal role in shaping the outcome. The incident, which sent shockwaves through the region, was heavily politicized. SP MP Awadhesh Prasad, who was caught on camera expressing “moral responsibility” for the gruesome crime, became a focal point for BJP’s campaign. The incident led to widespread public anger, with the BJP skillfully utilizing the situation to highlight the shortcomings of the SP leadership.

Additionally, SP’s candidate, Ajit Prasad, who contested the Milkipur bypoll, faced an uphill battle due to his family’s connection to the ongoing controversy. The BJP’s strategic maneuvering, including focusing on the local issues and targeting the opposition’s mishandling of the law and order situation, proved to be decisive.

BJP Leaders Celebrate Victory as Yogi Adityanath Weighs In

After the victory, Yogi Adityanath expressed his gratitude to the party workers, stating that the win symbolized the “unwavering faith” of the people in the BJP’s governance model. In a tweet, the Chief Minister emphasized the role of the “Double Engine” BJP government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which focuses on security, welfare, and governance.

Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya also praised the win, highlighting the effectiveness of the BJP’s welfare schemes and the party’s strong organizational structure. He further stressed the people’s trust in Prime Minister Modi’s leadership as a driving factor behind the victory.

Opposition Reacts: Akhilesh Yadav’s Accusations

On the other hand, Samajwadi Party (SP) Chief Akhilesh Yadav criticized the BJP’s victory, accusing them of “misusing” electoral machinery. Yadav claimed that the BJP’s success in Milkipur was not a true reflection of the people’s will but a product of manipulation. He argued that the growing influence of the “PDA” (backward castes, Dalits, and minorities) in the region posed a direct challenge to the BJP, prompting the party to resort to fraudulent practices. He further asserted that the SP’s real victory in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections would overshadow the BJP’s perceived win in Milkipur.

Despite these accusations, the BJP remains undeterred, with leaders continuing to celebrate the outcome as a significant milestone.
