Bihar CM Nitish Kumar Launches Key Development Schemes in East Champaran During ‘Pragati Yatra’

In his continued push for Bihar’s growth and development, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar recently visited Sundarapur village in Kesaria, East Champaran, as part of his ‘Pragati Yatra’. The visit was aimed at assessing the progress of ongoing development works and addressing local concerns related to welfare schemes and infrastructure projects.

During his visit, CM Nitish Kumar inaugurated 62 developmental schemes worth Rs 114.82 crore and laid the foundation stone for an additional 42 schemes valued at Rs 86.30 crore. These projects are expected to enhance various sectors, including education, infrastructure, and rural development in the region.

The Pragati Yatra is a series of visits by CM Nitish Kumar across Bihar, designed to promote accountability in government projects and engage directly with citizens. The latest tour in East Champaran focused on fulfilling the aspirations of local residents and ensuring the timely implementation of schemes that will directly benefit the community.

Inauguration of Key Educational Infrastructure in Sundarapur

One of the highlights of CM Nitish Kumar’s visit was the inauguration of the newly constructed building of Upkramit Uchchatar Madhyamik Vidyalaya in Sundarapur. Built at a cost of Rs 97.011 lakh, this modernized school facility aims to provide better educational opportunities for children in the region. The construction was undertaken by the Bihar State Educational Infrastructure Corporation Limited, reflecting the state government’s commitment to improving educational infrastructure across rural areas.

During the visit, CM Nitish Kumar also interacted with both students and teachers, inquiring about the quality of teaching and the school environment. His hands-on approach demonstrated his commitment to ensuring that education in Bihar reaches every corner of the state.

Additionally, the construction of a playground within the school premises was also inspected, emphasizing the government’s focus on not only academics but also extracurricular activities that contribute to the overall development of students.

Welfare Schemes to Improve Rural Livelihoods

In line with his goal of improving living conditions for Bihar’s rural population, CM Nitish Kumar also inaugurated a number of welfare schemes aimed at empowering local communities. One such initiative was the inauguration of a pond constructed under the Jal-Jeevan-Hariyali Abhiyan, which was funded by the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA).

The pond, which will provide water for both domestic and agricultural purposes, has been handed over to the Jeevika Sisters for management. In recognition of their efforts, CM Nitish Kumar distributed certificates to the Jeevika Sisters, empowering them to take charge of the management and upkeep of the water body.

This initiative is part of the broader Jal-Jeevan-Hariyali Abhiyan, a program that focuses on improving water conservation and green cover in Bihar. Through such initiatives, the state government aims to enhance water availability, boost agricultural productivity, and improve the overall quality of life for residents.

Strengthening Rural Welfare through Financial Aid

Further reflecting the government’s commitment to welfare, CM Nitish Kumar provided cheques to beneficiaries under various welfare schemes. These schemes include financial assistance for farmers, women’s empowerment initiatives, and healthcare support. By directly disbursing funds to the beneficiaries, the government is ensuring that the allocated resources are reaching the right hands.

One of the key focuses during this visit was the Jeevika program, which has played a vital role in empowering rural women. The Jeevika Sisters, who manage the pond, are part of a larger network of women involved in self-help groups aimed at improving financial independence and social standing. Through such programs, the state government hopes to uplift rural women and give them a platform to contribute actively to their communities.

Commitment to Ongoing Development in East Champaran

CM Nitish Kumar’s visit to Sundarapur and the subsequent inauguration of 62 schemes is a significant step toward realizing Bihar’s vision for holistic rural development. With a total investment of over Rs 200 crore, these projects are aimed at improving both infrastructure and welfare, thereby creating a sustainable environment for growth.

East Champaran, which has been a focal point for rural development in Bihar, has seen marked improvements in recent years, but challenges remain. The state government’s continuous focus on educational infrastructure, water conservation, and rural welfare schemes ensures that East Champaran is on the path to becoming a model for rural development in the state.

In his speech, CM Nitish Kumar reiterated the importance of community engagement in achieving development goals. He expressed confidence that the people of East Champaran would continue to support and collaborate with the government to drive positive change.

Conclusion: A Future of Growth and Empowerment

The Pragati Yatra in Sundarapur, East Champaran, has reaffirmed the Bihar government’s commitment to advancing development in rural areas. Through initiatives like the Jal-Jeevan-Hariyali Abhiyan, improvements in educational infrastructure, and a focus on empowering women through Jeevika, CM Nitish Kumar is paving the way for long-term growth.

As Bihar continues to focus on inclusive development, the people of East Champaran can look forward to a brighter future with improved access to education, water resources, and welfare schemes. The government’s emphasis on direct engagement and addressing local concerns is expected to drive meaningful change, ensuring that every citizen’s needs are met as the state progresses toward a more prosperous future.
