Arvind Kejriwal Vows to Eradicate Drugs in Punjab with Mass Movement, Helpline, and High-Tech Solutions
Arvind Kejriwal Announces Final Blow to Drug Menace in Punjab, Mass Movement to Begin April 1
Ludhiana, March 18, 2025 — In a powerful address to a packed Indoor Stadium in Ludhiana, Arvind Kejriwal, National Convener of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), declared the launch of a decisive battle against drugs in Punjab. Starting on April 1, 2025, over three crore Punjabis will unite in a mass movement to eradicate the drug epidemic plaguing the state.
Kejriwal’s speech focused on the need for collective action and government-backed strategies to wipe out the drug scourge. “From April 1, the people of Punjab will stand against drugs like never before. This movement will target the handful of smugglers who have been destroying the future of our youth,” Kejriwal said, calling for a unified effort to eradicate the drug trade.
A Comprehensive Approach to Tackling Drug Abuse
The AAP leader outlined several key initiatives designed to combat the growing drug problem. One of the most significant actions is the launch of an anti-drug helpline number—9779100200—which will allow residents to report drug-related activities anonymously. “The identity of those who report will remain confidential, and stringent actions will be taken against the drug dealers,” Kejriwal assured the crowd.
In addition, a drug census will be conducted across Punjab, with teams visiting every village and city to assess the scale of the drug problem. The census aims to identify drug victims and ensure they receive the help they need. The government will also prioritize the rehabilitation of addicts, offering new facilities like playgrounds and gyms in every village to engage the youth in healthy activities.
High-Tech Solutions: Anti-Drone Technology
In a bold move to address the cross-border drug trade, which Kejriwal claims accounts for 70% of the state’s drug supply, the Punjab government will introduce anti-drone technology. This cutting-edge technology will help detect and disrupt the illegal smuggling of drugs from Pakistan. “We cannot allow anti-national forces to destabilize Punjab. We are putting everything in place to stop drug trafficking through drones,” Kejriwal asserted.
Crackdown on Drug Lords and Corrupt Leaders
Kejriwal’s speech also included a strong message against the influential political leaders who, according to him, had previously supported the drug trade for their personal gains. He made it clear that anyone involved in the drug mafia would not be spared, regardless of their political or social stature.
“The drug lords, and even the former ministers who protected them, will be put behind bars. We will break the supply lines, seize properties, and dismantle the infrastructure that supports this illicit trade,” Kejriwal vowed.
A Call for Unity and Public Participation
The AAP leader stressed that this battle could not be won by the government alone. He called on every resident of Punjab to participate in the mass movement starting April 1. “This is a war that requires every citizen to become a soldier. Party workers will be sent to villages, and together, we will remove drugs from the state,” he said, urging everyone to get involved in the effort to rid Punjab of its drug problem.
Reforms in Healthcare, Infrastructure, and Public Services
Along with the fight against drugs, Kejriwal also touched upon the broader reforms that the Punjab government has undertaken. He mentioned the major improvements made to the Ludhiana Civil Hospital, which had been neglected by previous governments. “When Congress, Akali, and BJP were in power, they left behind a hospital infested with rodents. Now, we have renovated it completely,” Kejriwal said, underscoring the government’s commitment to improving public services.
Further, the Chief Minister announced that Sehat cards would be issued to all Punjabis who do not yet have them, providing free healthcare facilities. This is part of a broader initiative to ensure that essential services reach the people of Punjab without any bureaucratic barriers.
Looking Ahead: A New Era of Prosperity for Punjab
Kejriwal emphasized that under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the state is set for unprecedented progress in all sectors. “The government is committed to uplifting every part of Punjab—from healthcare and education to infrastructure and public services,” he said, reaffirming AAP’s vision for a prosperous and drug-free state.
He concluded by expressing confidence that the people of Punjab will soon see tangible changes, thanks to the collective efforts of the government and the public. “We are embarking on a revolution, and Punjab will be an example for the entire country. We are not just fighting drugs; we are fighting for the future of our youth,” Kejriwal said.
