During yatra, disputes often arise due to shops not mentioning the name of the proprietor, says SSP

Following similar instructions in Uttar Pradesh areas, police in Haridwar have instructed eateries, including wayside carts, along the Kanwar yatra route to publish the names of their proprietors in order to avoid “disputes which often arise” during the yatra.

“Disputes frequently emerge during the Kanwar Yatra as a result of stores failing to mention the proprietor’s name. Yatris frequently object to this. To solve this, all stores, restaurants, hotels, dhabas, and street vendors along the route will be inspected by Haridwar police.

We are also asking for the proprietors’ identities to be plainly published. Pramendra Dobhal, Senior Superintendent of Police in Haridwar, said that the QR codes will also state this.

The conclusion was made after several talks with district stakeholders. According to a district police release, SSP Haridwar scheduled a meeting on Thursday to assess tasks assigned to gazetted officers.

During the conference, officials were directed to verify hotels, dhabas, and food businesses along the route and ensure that rate lists are displayed and included in QR codes.

They were also responsible with establishing stores along the roadway with adequate capacity, parking, and power supply arrangements.

The police force’s deployment, essential products and equipment, drone availability, and operator contact information were all reviewed.

In another statement, the Bhagwanpur police station stated that a conference was held with hotel and dhaba owners/operators in preparation for the impending yatra, and they promised full cooperation.

The meeting’s rules include limiting the usage of meat, eggs, garlic, and onions in hotels and dhabas, prohibiting the drinking of alcohol and intoxicants, requiring meal rate lists to be widely posted, and guaranteeing a QR code bearing the operator’s name is available for payment.
