A STRONG-WILLED PERSON MOVES WORLD FORWARD, NO POWER IN WORLD CAN HINDER THEIR PROGRESS: DR. BALJIT KAUR

Sangrur/Chandigarh, October 23: Dr Baljit Kaur, Minister of Social Security, Women, and Child Development in Punjab, served as the chief guest at the district-level assistive device distribution ceremony held in Satauj (Sangrur) today. She encouraged all the divyang beneficiaries and emphasized that they should never regret feeling incomplete physically or financially. Being physically weak should not deter them from achieving their goals. In the presence of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s mother, Harpal Kaur, MLA Sangrur Narinder Kaur Bharaj, and MLA Lehra Barinder Goyal, the Cabinet Minister emphasized that when a person is mentally strong and determined, no power in the world can hinder their progress. Society has numerous examples of people who have overcome monumental challenges due to their determination.

Cabinet Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur highlighted that the Punjab government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is making significant efforts to ensure every facility for people with disabilities. The district administration, with the support of the Social Security Department and ALIMCO, is installing these assistive devices. The distribution ceremony is a significant step in the same direction. The Cabinet Minister added that the Punjab government is planning a special initiative in December, focusing on the interests of people with disabilities. She urged disabled beneficiaries to pledge to live a self-sufficient life and not feel weak at any stage. Instead, they should demonstrate their strength of will and prove that they are not inferior to anyone.

Addressing the event, MLA Sangrur Narinder Kaur Bharaj stated that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab government is fully committed to providing the benefits of government schemes to every needy person at the grassroots level. Officials in villages and cities will personally ensure the availability of every facility.

During the event, 181 persons with disabilities received assistive devices under the ‘Adip Yojana’ of the Government of India, worth approximately 41.09 lakh rupees. These devices included motorized tricycles, wheelchairs, tricycles, CP chairs, hearing aids, prostheses, rollators, calipers, smartphones and more. Prominent personalities were honored on behalf of the district administration.

In addition to MLA Lehra Barinder Goyal, other attendees included Chairman Panseed Mahinder Singh Sidhu, Chairman Small Scale Dalveer Singh Dhillon, OSD of Finance Minister Tapinder Singh Sohi, Chairman Improvement Trust Sangrur Pritam Singh Peetu, Shena Aggarwal, Director of the Social Security Department Charanjit Singh Mann, Additional Director of the Social Security Department Senior Leader Satinder Singh Chatha, SDM Rajesh Sharma, Assistant Commissioner Devdarshdeep Singh, President Rahat Foundation Harwinder Rishi, Deputy Manager Alimco Ishwinder Singh, District Social Security Officer Loveleen Baring, and other officials, leaders, and villagers.
