Maha Kumbh Opens with Devotion and Youthful Energy”

First bath of Maha Kumbh, 60 lakh pilgrims set out for the journey: Devotees from 20 countries, 12 km walk to Sangam; 60 thousand youth Basti

 

Maha Kumbh has begun. Today is the first bath on Paush Purnima. By 9:30 am, 60 lakh devotees have taken a dip. Today, 1 crore devotees are expected to arrive. 20 quintals of flowers will be showered on the devotees. Maha Kumbh is taking place in a rare astronomical coincidence in 144 years.

Devotees have come to Prayagraj from every corner of the country. A large number of foreign devotees have arrived to take a dip in the Kumbh. According to the administration, devotees have arrived from 20 countries including Germany, Brazil, Russia. Every hour 2 lakh devotees are taking a dip in the Sangam. From today itself, devotees will start the 45-day Kalpavas.

 

Francisco, a devotee from Brazil, said-  ” I practice yoga. I am searching for salvation. India is the spiritual heart of the world. Jai Shri Ram. ”

There is a crowd of devotees on all the entry routes of  Sangam. Entry of vehicles is closed. Devotees are reaching Sangam by walking 10-12 kilometers from bus and railway station. 60 thousand soldiers are engaged in maintaining security and order. Policemen are managing the crowd of lakhs through speakers. Commandos and paramilitary force personnel are also deployed at various places.

Where is Mahakumbh 2025 Being Held?

The Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 will be held in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, India. This significant Hindu festival takes place at the sacred Triveni Sangam, where the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati rivers converge.

“Yogi Adityanath to Visit Prayagraj Leaving Ghats Uplifted”

 

Preparations for CM Yogi Adityanath’s visit to Prayagraj included the installation of lighting arrangements on all ghats. Wooden stairs that have crumbled appear to have been reinforced with straw, a mixture of brass and soil packed in thousands of sacks, along with separate dressing rooms for women.

“The ramp of the main ghats in the Sangam area is quite advanced in cleaning and development work,” stated deputy fair officer Abhinav Pathak. “New development projects indicate enhancement of cleanliness and better construction and security works in the ghat area.”

Key Dates for Maha Kumbh Mela 2025:

  • Start Date: January 13, 2025 (Paush Purnima)
  • End Date: February 26, 2025 (Maha Shivratri)

Major Bathing Dates:

  • January 14, 2025: Makar Sankranti (First Shahi Snan)
  • January 29, 2025: Mauni Amavasya (Second Shahi Snan)
  • February 3, 2025: Basant Panchami (Third Shahi Snan)
  • February 12, 2025: Maghi Purnima

Construction and facilities at the important ghats

Seven ghat facilities in concrete have been constructed on the banks of the Ganga and Yamuna rivers on the Sangam bank. These have been constructed to facilitate the bathers and devotees.

Dashaswamedh Ghat:

This ghat, measuring 110 metres in length and 95 meters in width, provides amenities for the bathing ghat.” It will have a sitting plaza, changing cabins, parking, a yagya shala, “aarti sthal,” and a meditation center.

Kila Ghat (Yamuna River):

This ghat, measuring 60 meters in length and 70 meters in width, is made to accommodate a large number of bathers, just near Sangam.

Saraswati Ghat (Yamuna River):

The ghat is of length 30 metres and width 60 metres to be used for bathing and other activities.

Mori Ghat (Yamuna River):

Also 30 metres long by 60 metres wide, this is placed near the other ghats.

Kali Ghat (Ganga River):

This is a ghat 30 metres long and 60 metres in width and located near the cremation ground.

Chhatnag Ghat:

It is located on the left bank of the Ganges, measuring 30 metres in length and 60 metres in width.

Maheva Ghat (Yamuna River):

Situated near the Bhairav temple, this ghat is designed to be the same length and width as the Chhatnag Ghat.

Arrangements regarding Security and Cleanliness

Given the massive crowd of devotees expected at the Mahakumbh, special security arrangements are being made.

Changing Rooms for Women:

Separate changing rooms for women and girls are provided at all ghats.

Insignia and Symbols:

Different recognized insignia (Damaaru, Trishul, etc.) are being made available at each ghat.

Watch towers and barricading:

Watch towers are being arranged to keep a watch over the Sangam region, and water barricading will be put in place at all ghats.

Boat Registration and Capacity Inspection:

Boats are undergoing checks where each license plate number and capacity will be displayed.

Water Police Alert:

The water police have been put on full alert to maintain a good bathing situation.
